Chapter 7: Are You With Me or Against Me?

Start from the beginning

"What did Aunt A mean by that gene? I thought only mom was cursed." I ask. Dad turns around slowly while giving a grim look,

"Actually it runs in my family as well. My mother was a cursed, but it skipped all three of my brothers, and my youngest brother inherited it instead. Jace and Alina didn't know that Gaia would inherit it."

"But she did know that Gaia was a cursed. I told her she was." My mother whispered

"Now's not the time for that." My dad snaps back before they both exited out the maze. So the cursed gene runs in both sides of the family, me and Drax would have had the gene regardless if my mom passed hers on or not. Drax made his way out before I grabbed his arm,

"Wait, we should be there for Gaia. She's pretty upset right now." Drax agrees and heads back to Gaia and her parents. Once we make it near the maze entrance, we can hear Gaia once more.

"Do you think I want to be this? A monstrosity? All curses do is destroy everything that they touch! I've read everything about them and every horrible thing that curse beings have done. They are nothing but sick demented abominations. " Gaia screamed at her parents, and they looked taken aback by their daughters prejudice statement. I crossed my arms and nodded my head with a bitter chuckle. All of their attention shifted over to us, and Gaia's furious expression shifted to a guilty one,

"It's nice to know how you feel," I reply back without even looking at her.

"Olivia-" Gaia starts, but I turn around swiftly,

"Drax, let's go." We both walk out of the garden despite Gaia's call of our names.

"Olivia!" I screamed, but from what I could hear, she was long gone by now

"Olivia!" I screamed, but from what I could hear, she was long gone by now. I hadn't meant to insult or hurt her in any way. I loved Olivia and Drax with all my heart and out of everyone in this entire castle they were the only two willing to tell me the truth. But I hated the whole idea of being a cursed. I was not capable of hurting people, but that seems to be all that they do. All the books that I've read talks about the destruction that they create from killing families and burning villages. Who would want to be something that purposely creates evil?

"Gaia, you should calm down." My father finally answers as he hands me a spare gown that they had in the garden. Apparently, this is something that must happen a lot if they have spare clothes just laying about. I quickly dress as my mother steps forward,

"You've said a lot of horrible things, about your aunt, your cousins, and even your deceased uncle. I think we should just all sit down and talk this out-"

"I'm done talking to you both," I growl before exiting out of the garden and into the woods. I walked through the dark woods and thought back to the first time I ever trudged through these woods. I haven't been back in these woods since Olivia found her spell book. Olivia, I need to find a way to apologize for the way my words came out. Out of everything that my parents said, my mother was right about one thing. I had said some horrible things about my cousins and aunt. They had nothing to do with the drama going on between my parents and me.
