Chapter 6: Realization

"Oh god."

"Who knew that the Headmaster would be here?" Peter comments

"Apparently, our parents invited them." Drax answers while Peter rolls his eyes

"They want to see how we're doing in school," I add while sipping my glass.

"Well, as long as she doesn't talk to my parents then I'm good."

"Don't want them to talk about those F's huh?" I joke, and we all laugh

"That math teacher is up my ass. He only picks on me."

"Well, you are asleep for most of his class." Adam comments and we all laugh again including Gaia. Adam's eyebrows scrunch together

"Did your back just laugh?" I step to the side and reveal Gaia

"No just Gaia."

"Real nice." she sneered before standing upright.

"Anytime." I smile. We noticed the crowd moving to the dancefloor and that the lights were dimmed. Drax looked off at the corner, and I followed his gaze to a stunning redhead. She had a lot of cleavage showing, but he looked completely enticed. I cleared my throat, and he looked over at me,

"Something sparks your interest, little brother."

"Older brother." he corrects before smirking and walking over to the redhead. Adam watched him and chuckled.

"Looks like Julianna sparked someone's interest tonight."

"When doesn't she," Geoffrey comments as he looks over at the two of them. I looked over at Gaia and saw her face fall a little. Anytime Geoffrey compliments flirt or even looks at another girl she gets upset. I nudged her in his direction,

"Such a nice song to...you know dance too," I reply and Gaia shoots me a look. Somebody had to do it. Geoffrey stops looking over at the other girl and looks at Gaia with a smirk.

"Is that your way of getting me to dance with Gaia?" he questions with a raised brow.

"Or your way of trying to dance with Adam?" Peter teases, and I shoot him a look.

"I was just saying that Gaia likes to dance."

"Well Gaia, may I have this dance?" Geoffrey offers and Gaia eagerly accepts. I watched them walk over to the dancefloor, and he twirled her around before pulling her close. I was happy that she got her dance with him since she is basically in love with the guy. Slowly one by one the group started asking other girls to dance until it was just Adam and me. I looked over and noticed Drax and the other girl dancing pretty close together.

"Worried about him?" Adam pegs. I turn to face him,

"No, I just haven't seen him around a girl before," I reply

"You should see him show off during swordsmanship class." Adam jokes, and I laugh

"I bet he shows off his arms or guns like he calls them."

"Exactly"

"And I thought you were a show-off during swordsmanship class." I tease, and his eyebrow raises

"You watch me during swordsmanship class?" I took a big gulp of my ale. God, why did I say that?

"Uh, you know...I just could see from my uh window during English class." he nods his head as he smiles

"Is that so?" I felt my cheeks heat up and looked away from him.

"Hey Liv, can we talk for a second," Geoffrey asks as he approaches. I look around for Gaia but can't spot her anywhere. He more than likely wanted advice regarding her and I couldn't wait to give it.

"Yeah sure." I agree as we walk together out to the balcony. I look over the edge at the cool night sky. Geoffrey touched my shoulder, and I turned to face him,

"Olivia, there's something I have to tell you."

"You don't even have to say it." I smile

"I don't?" he questions with his scrunched eyebrows.

"Of course not, I already know what you're going to say."

"That obvious huh?" he chuckles as he rubs the back of his neck. You have no idea.

"Well, I know when someone is in-" before I could finish Geoffrey presses his lips against mine. My eyes widen when he wrapped his arm around my waist and tried to deepen the kiss. I pushed him off and stared at him.

"Are you nuts?!"

"I thought you said you knew."

"That you liked Gaia." He looked at me like I was crazy,

"I don't like Gaia. I like you," he admits, and I look over and spot Gaia standing there with the widest eyes.

"Gaia, wait." She takes off down the stairs, and I rush behind her.

"Gaia wait! Gaia runs all the way to the garden, and I finally catch up to her. She paced back and forth by the fountain, and I observe her cautiously.

"Gaia,"

"Did...Did Geoffrey kiss you?" she asks.

"I-"

"Because it looks like he just kissed you. And that can't be right because...so did he?" We both look towards the entrance when we spot the bushes rumbling. But it was just Drax, and he approached us breathing heavy,

"I heard you calling out for Gaia, so I followed. What's going on?" he questions

"Oh, I'm fine. I was just wondering if Geoffrey kissed Olivia or not."

"Actually"

"Geoffrey kissed you?" Drax asks, and I smack my forehead

"No wonder he was so nervous to see you tonight. I thought he was nervous to see Gaia, but now it makes more sense." I glare at him since he decided to unload this information right in front of a heartbroken Gaia.

"He always asked about what you liked like your favorite color, food, wine. I thought he was doing it for Adam." he chuckled, but his eyes landed on Gaia. Her entire face looked devastated. He shut his eyes,

"And I am an idiot."

"A complete idiot," I grumble under my breath as we both approach Gaia.

"I'm sorry Gaia. I had no idea."

"Why you?" she mumbled. Um ouch, I comment internally. Why not me?

"He could have liked anyone in that school. Hell, he would have liked that girl who always wears the most revealing gowns to school, but it had to be you. My cousin! And he kissed you right after our dance!" she growled, and Drax and I exchange looks. We have never seen Gaia this angry before. I mean a few times she's gotten upset and thrown things, but this time it looked like her entire body was radiating.

"Gaia, maybe you should calm down." I assure

"Don't tell me to calm down! You just so happen to meet the guy I've been crushing on for months, and he just falls in love with you. Meanwhile, I'm stuck here with my feelings! Why did he have to fall for you?!" she screamed, and her eyes changed dark red. Woah. That's when I heard the sound of something snapping, and I looked around.

"Somebody may have followed us out here. It sounds like twigs snapping." I said to Drax as I look behind us.

"I don't think its twigs." I turned my attention back to Gaia who was bent over in agony as the familiar snapping sound continued. Oh god, that's Gaia!

"Well don't just stand there! We have to help her." I reply as I rush over to her side. She had fallen over and cried as her bones snapped and rearranged. What the hell was happening?

"Should we get her parents?" Drax asks as he holds her on her other side.

"I don't think there's enough time." Gaia started panting as her body expanded. Drax and I scooted away as her feet turned into huge paws and her hands turn into large paws. I swallow hard,

"She's a-"

"She's a cursed."

"Holy fuck!" Geoffrey comments from the garden entrance.
