Happiness is not a mirage
At times it appears camouflaged
Found in deserts far away
Or across a street on a summers day

Don't wander the desert all alone
Where vipers and scorpions roam
Don't wander in search of an oasis
Quench your thirst in other places

Don't wait for the first drop to fall
Don't wait for thunders booming call
Find your refuge and shelter there
Fill it with others who for you care

Memory fades of tear stained cheeks
As upon your visage a smile creeps
Drink from the stream where it pours
Don't fix the tapestry where it's torn

Do not fear that which is unknown
For you are youthful and not a crone
Do not turn back to look behind
As there the sun sets only to blind

Peace is a poison that kills the slow
War is classroom in which to grow
Happiness is far from pure bliss
It may only be the tremble after a kiss

I ask that you be ashes not dust
That you burn away not wait to rust
The meaning is that which you make
Love is truth that can never be faked
