"Fear cuts deeper than swords." - George R.R Martin
Wicked, nefarious, vile, and malicious are just a few of the words used to describe a cursed. But what is a cursed? A cursed being is a mixture of both vampire and wolf DNA. They are stronger and f...
"What do you mean they're gone!?" I shout at the gardener. Someone should have been keeping an eye on them, and I figured that since they were in the damn backyard that the gardening staff could at least manage three 6-7-year-olds.
"One moment they were play fighting and then the next they were gone." The gardener muttered, and Damien stepped in,
"Thank you Aulf, please go back to your duties," Damien instructed with a light smile. Aulf, the gardener, gave a wearily smile and headed out of our bedroom. Alina and Jace were there pacing back and forth.
"Let's all just remain calm."
"Remain calm?! It's dark outside, and our children are missing!" Alina shouts
"They are not missing, they probably just wandered off in the woods." Jace tries, but that doesn't ease anyone's wrecked mind.
"Oh, that makes me feel much better. Not like there aren't soldiers, blacksmiths, or criminals that lurk out in the woods. Many of whom would love the sight of children." she hissed
"Well let's definitely not assume that the moment our children get away from us someone might rape them," Damien adds. I roll my eyes.
"None of this is helping! Our kids are missing, we should be outside looking for them." I argue as I rush over to my chest and throw on my cloak. Before everyone else could dress themselves a hard knock startled us.
"Please enter," Damien replies, and the guard opens the door and our three children all stagger in. I felt like I could breathe again as I rushed over and hugged the two of them.
"Oh, my babies! Are you alright?" I question, and they both meekly nod their heads. I look them over, and the only thing different about them is that they were covered in dust and dirt. Gaia, on the other hand, was covered in mud.
"How on earth did you manage to get this filthy?" Alina whines as she pulls some mud out of Gaia's hair.
"I stomped my foot in a mud puddle," Gaia whined
"Where were you three?" Damien asks, and I move away from them to stare them down.
"We were just.."
"Just what?" Jace asks
"We heard something out in the woods...and we followed it," Gaia answered
"You followed it?!"
"Do you know how dangerous that is?!"
"Followed it where?"
"We just kept going in the woods."
"Then we got lost, and we didn't want to call for help. We wanted to be big kids." Gaia answered, and I sighed heavily
"You are too young to be big kids, its ok to ask for help. Promise us that you three will never do something like that again."
"We promise." they all replied and I smiled and placed a kiss on each of their cheeks.
"Now off to bathe, and then straight to bed. No playtime for you three." Damien adds, and the kids grunt but proceed out the door. Jace sighs,
"That was a close one."

"Can't believe we got grounded." I pout as I start the bathwater for my brother and me.
"I can," he responds as he pulls his tunic over his head.
"Did you ever find what you were looking for?" he questions. I look down at my palm where the mark is still visible but now much smaller.
"I don't know," I reply as I slip out of my dress and cut the water off.
"Thanks for not telling on me." he shrugs his shoulders as he steps in the water.
"You're my sister, I'll always have your back," he comments as I step in the tub with him. Our nanny, Matilda, comes in the room with the scrub brush and soap. She sits on the rim of the bathtub and begins washing us. Once we are squeaky clean, we put on our nightclothes and hop into bed.
"Goodnight Liv."
"Goodnight Drax." I turn over on my side and inspect the mark more. It was once so large that it took up my whole hand. Now it's the same size as a pea. I poked it, and nothing happened. I jiggled it and still nothing. I waved it over my bed, and the book appeared before my very eyes. I gasped and then quickly covered my mouth. I didn't want to wake Drax. I opened the book to the first page, and it glowed gold. I promptly covered it with my blanket until the light faded away. I turned over to see if I had wakened my brother, but I heard his faint snores. I moved the covers and peeked once more at the book and my eyes widened. Right in gold letters read, OLIVIA P. DE'AUVERGNE.
