"Sir. Marcobs prepare to die!" I chant at my brother with my thick stick pointing directly at him.
"Ah Lady Garfunkel, my true enemy. It is you that will die." he shot back, and we both came colliding into each other and moving our sticks swiftly. I laughed when he missed my arm, but I distractedly left my right side open. He took advantage of that and hit me right above my waist.
"Ouch!"
"Ah ha!" Drax chanted, and I narrowed my eyes at him and swung determinately. No way would he get the only hit in. I managed to hit his shin and down he went. He groaned, and I held the stick to his neck
"Cry, uncle." I tease, and he rolls his eyes
"Uncle!" I laugh and move my sword. Before I could say a smart remark, I felt something. It felt like a deep hum in my chest. I looked around for the source before I came crashing down on my butt. Drax had hit my shins as well.
"Now you say uncle!" he teases and the humming stops. I look up at him,
"Did you feel that?" I question. He hesitates and then shakes his head.
"No way, I'm not falling for that." I push the stick off me and stand to my feet.
"No for real, did you feel that?" I ask again, and this time he takes me seriously. He tosses the stick aside,
"Feel what?" Suddenly the hum vibrates again only much stronger. Is something calling for me? I look at the woods and then back at Drax
"I have to follow it."
"Follow what?" he asks, but I already start walking towards the woods. Drax follows closely behind, and within seconds we were both walking through the woods. I was focusing on the humming that only grew louder the farther we got in the forest. I heard a whoosh, and then Gaia was right by Drax. Both of us stopped moving.
"What are you guys doing? You know they don't like us this far out in the forest. Not to mention the fact that it's getting dark."
"It's not that late Gaia," I reply and she shakes her little brown head.
"We have to go back."
"Gaia-" Drax starts
"Why even come out here anyway? Its filthy and we should want to keep our clothes as clean as possible." she eyed us both up and down,
"At least somewhat." she sneered, and I rolled my eyes
"You are more than welcome to leave Gaia," I replied back as Drax and I trudged on. Gaia hesitated and then followed behind us.
"I can't show up empty-handed. I'll get in trouble," Gaia whines
"Then I guess your coming." Drax finishes for her. She stomps her foot and mistakenly splashes mud all over herself. She gasps, and we both turn around to see a mud-covered Gaia. Her blue eyes are as wide as saucers. Drax and I fight the urge to burst into giggles,
"I'm filthy!" she cries out, and we both snicker at her. How ironic. She groaned out loud, and we turned around before she could start crying and continued our walk. We walked for what felt like hours and sun eventually abandoned us. All of us, including me, were getting antsy. What exactly am I even following? What if it's something evil? What if mom was right about keeping us inside?
"Hey look!" Gaia called out, and all of us halted. We were in front of a large stone gate that had the letters HUMAN FACTION written on top. What is that? But the part that caught my eye was the dangling skeletons that hung on the side of the gate.
"Maybe we should go back now." Drax bargains but the humming in my chest returns, and it appears much louder.
"Whatever I'm supposed to find, it's in here," I answer back and take a step forward. A hand grabs my arm, and I turn to see Gaia as white as a sheet.
