"Hi, RuRu!" Tyler said with a wide smile as he saw his 18 month old waddle towards him.
"Where Jish?" Ruby asked, looking quite grumpy per usual.
"Daddy's at work, honey," Tyler said. "Why do you need him?"
"Jish needa snuggle RuRu," she informed him.
"Daddy can snuggle you when he gets home. It'll just be a few more hours."
"No no," Ruby said, shaking her head.
"Yes yes," Tyler giggled, tickling her tubby belly.
"No no."
"Yes yes."
"RuRu need Jish to snuggle because RuRu needa nap."
"Sweetheart, I put you down for a nap two hours ago. Did you not sleep?"
"RuRu did no sleep sleep."
"Ohhh," Tyler said, it all coming together now. "You couldn't sleep because Josh wasn't there to snuggle you."
"Mhm. Where Jish?"
"Still at work, honey," Tyler said. "I can come snuggle with you if you want."
Ruby shook her head. "RuRu need Jish."
"Why's Jish better at snuggling than me?" Tyler asked.
"Jish snuggle RuRu while she sleep," Ruby explained.
"So if I snuggle you while you sleep instead of cooking dinner, you'll sleep?"
Ruby nodded. "Mhm."
"Okay," Tyler said. He texted Josh to pick up some dinner on the way home before heading to Ruby's room and holding her in his lap while he sat in the big comfy chair.
She fell asleep, and as promised, Tyler stayed in there holding her until she woke up an hour and a half later.
"Where Jish?" She immediately asked.
"Daddy's in the shower."
"RuRu go see Jish."
"Nooo, RuRu," Tyler giggled. "Daddy's nakey right now. You don't wanna see that."
"TyTy see Jish nakey all da time."
"Okay, yes, that's true. Good point. But still. That's because daddies are married and like seeing each other nakey."
"Hm," Ruby hummed in thought.
But soon, the thought escaped her mind when none other than Jish himself entered the room.
"JISH!" She shouted excitedly. "JISH!"
"Hi, RuRu!" Josh smiled, taking her into his arms.
"JISH, RURU LOVE Y- JISH WET! JISH WET!" She screamed, immediately struggling to try to get back into Tyler's arms.
"See?!" Tyler exclaimed. "Even Ruby doesn't like it when you don't dry off!"
"JISH WET! JISH WET!"
Tyler took her back, setting her on his shoulders.
"Fineee," Josh groaned. "I'll go dry off."
"He's a weirdo, isn't he?" Tyler asked Ruby, who was still sitting on his shoulders.
"Jish wet," she mumbled against his hair.
Tyler laughed. "So who's the better nap time partner now?"
"Jish."
Tyler's jaw dropped in fake sadness. "Hey, I dry off after I shower!"
"Jish nap wit RuRu now," Ruby said. "RuRu will den choose."
So the boys had their competition to see who was the better nap time partner, more than happy when Ruby decided she just couldn't choose.
