Liam and I scoffed. “Yeah, a bit...”
“-and we just kinda held onto each other. She didn’t say anything.”
So that’s why it was so quiet... I thought, but snapped out of it when Louis spoke again.
“She had that look in her eye though...I can’t explain it.” Louis shook his head and we dropped the subject. Plus, I just heard the doorbell ring.
“That’s for you.” Liam said, smiling at me like school was the greatest thing ever created. “Go learn something new, Ellie!”
“It’s a big, big, big day!” Louis said, in fake enthusiasm. I rolled my eyes at the boys but kissed their cheeks and ran to the door.
Harry was leaning up against the wall, looking at his phone. He looked up when he saw me, a cheeky grin on his face. “ELLIE!”
“HAZZA!” I squealed, hugging the boy.
“Missed you, love. We need to get to together more often.” He kissed my head. “All right, bye boys! See you at the studio!” He shut the door behind him after Liam and Lou answered him back. Harry kept a protective arm around me as we walked to the car. “You have your sunglasses?”
“Harry, it’s too early for the paps to be out.” I sighed, looking up at him.
He laughed at my naiveness. “You don’t know half of the things the do just to get pictures of us. Surprise for you in the car!”
“Really?! It’s not my birthday, Haz. Though I think you do owe me after what happened last year...” I glared at him as he laughed nervously, obviously guilty. He scratched the back of his neck, Ray Bans probably hiding the sorry look in his eyes.
“I didn’t know you were allergic!”
“That was so bloody embarrassing! Ugh, this better be a good surprise.” I mumbled as he opened up the car door, a smirk growing on his face.
“Of course I’m a good surprise!” A thick Irish accent yelled out. Niall stepped out of the car, striking a pose that totally said, ‘I’m here! What are your other two wishes?’
“NIALLER!” My eyes grew big as I registered my best friend growing up. The memories we had watching Spongebob and watching movies together rushed to me, as his arms immediately enveloped me in a Horan hug. He chuckled at my excitement. “I missed you.”
“Hey, I missed you too, Ells.” I liked his little nickname for me. He was the only one who called me that. He kissed my cheek lightly and I kissed his. I missed the Irish boy. I didn’t get to see him that often. “You’ve gotten a bit taller, no?”
“Ehh, just a bit. Might pass you one day!” I said, teasingly as I got in the front seat next to Harry. I threw my bag in the back, then reached for the knobs on the radio.
“Oh, that’ll be easy love. Everyone’s taller than Nialler.” Harry said, backing out of the driveway. “Oh, well except for Nicole.” He wiggled his eyebrows at Niall as he started to blush a bit. I gasped, registering what was going on.
“NIALLER YOU FINALLY FOUND YOUR PRINCESS?!” I practically screamed. “Oh my gosh, and Nicole is such a pretty name. I’m sure she’s so pretty. Oh my gosh, lemme see her!”
“I’ll show you a pick of her, if Harry shows a picture of Marisa.” Niall shot back, pulling out his phone.
“Ugh, fine. It’s in my wallet.” Harry groaned a bit.
I sniffed, looking between the two boys. “You keep a p-picture of her in your w-wallet. I cannot contain these emotions.” I looked in Harry’s wallet first. In there I saw a beautiful girl. She had a wide smile on her face as Harry was kissing her cheek. Though she had tanned skin, you could still see her blushing. She had brown eyes and wavy brown hair. “She’s beautiful, Haz.”
“I know.” He said, smiling a bit to himself.
I took Niall’s phone next and immediately let out an aww when I saw that a picture of them was his wallpaper. They were both hugging each other, Nicole wearing Niall’s favorite red snapbacks. They looked absolutely adorable, Nicole leaning her head on Niall’s shoulder. Nicole’s curly brown hair framed her face perfectly and her blue eyes sparkled just like Niall’s. They both had these huge grins on their faces and looked extremely happy together.
“She’s beautiful. You both better get married. You’ve waited this long for your Princess. Have you told the fans yet?” I asked, giving him his phone back.
“Nope. The fans have suspected of course, but no not yet.” He mumbled.
“Girls will be crying once they find out all the boys are taken.” I smirked a bit, looking at my phone as Harry turned around a corner.
“We’ll still love our fans though. They’ll always be our girls.” Harry smiled a bit. All of a sudden, we heard the famous ‘dun dun dun’ that played in the beginning of What Makes You Beautiful.
“Turn it up!” Niall yelled as I turned the volume knob up.
“Shh! Don’t sing! I wanna hear how I sound back then!” Harry said, clamping a hand over my mouth before I could belt out another verse. I laughed lightly, peeling the boys long fingers off me. The boys and I started dancing in the car to their old songs. Harry was banging his head back and forth at stoplights, curls flopping along to the beat of the song. People were even staring, but I didn’t care. The boys recalled the fun memories they had when they were shooting the video. With Louis jumping off from the balcony and how they got pulled over. It seemed like it was so long ago, but it really wasn’t.
I smiled a bit as I looked out the window, humming the catchy tune. It was good to be back with Niall and Harry. I just wished I could stay in this car forever with the boys, but alas, Harry was a fast driver and immediately sent me on my way, telling me to have a great day with big smiles on their faces. I stuck my tongue out at them as they drove away, some girls standing nearby immediately running after their carm screaming 'I love you!'.
I rolled my eyes at them. They were so desperate. I pushed my headphones in, blasting my music as walked over to my locker, sighing a bit as girls already started walking over to me, asking about the boys, for concert tickets, and autographs.
I turned my knob to the correct numbers, hoping the girls would just leave me alone.
“No! No! NO!” I finally yelled, growing tired of the girls screaming at me. “Just go away! I’m not giving you anything!” One of the girls started to object but a chilling voice came from the midst of the small crowd.
“She said leave her alone.” I looked over to the direction and saw Luke. He sent a hard look directly at the girls, dark brown eyes sending a threatening look. Eventually, they all walked away and I thanked Luke, giving him a quick hug.
“You’re pretty famous, now aren’t you, missy?” He said in a mocking tone. I laughed softly at his little nickname for me. I probably would’ve been annoyed if someone called me that but it was just the way Luke said it. A smile began to form on my face.
I guess, Luke was just different.
