"Breakfast in the kitchen!" The all too familiar voice of Brian said into the room as the door swung open and hit the wall. I quickly sat up, confused and bewildered as to what the hell was going on at this ungodly time of the morning.
I finally realized I was still completely clothed in my dinner dress, wrapped up messily in the sheets of the queen bed. I immediately noticed that Hayley wasn't next to me. I looked up and caught her equally sleepily and bewildered look from the small couch in the room.
I was caught between two feelings. One of instant pain and hurt because of the fact that Hayley hadn't slept next to me. We hadn't purposely slept apart in what felt like forever. She had most definitely fallen asleep next to me in bed after we talked some more, but had gotten up at some point, it seems, and moved to the chair. The second feeling was one of thankfulness. Truthfully I was having a terrible time falling asleep with her next to me. I wanted her there, but I couldn't quite handle having her there. The feeling was ripping me at the seams and I had only been awake for no more than 2 minutes.
"Want to have a quite breakfast in here?" Hayley asked me, a note of fragile hopefulness that made my heart skip a beat.
"Yeah, I think I use a few more minutes of the calmness" I admitted, already hearing Zac and Docky cackling at something in the main living room. Hayley stood up, shaking off the sheet she had slept in and looked down at herself. She looked at the open door and then back at herself, her eyebrows frowning.
Before she could debate about getting breakfast, Taylor walked through the door with a bagful of bagels and coffees.
"Too early to be that loud" He mumbled, barely coherent as he plopped himself on the couch, his curls bouncing with the movement. He allowed the locks to hang in front of his eyes, further punctuating the premise that he didn't want to be awake even though he came bearing breakfast.
Hayley looked relieved and began searching through her bag.
"I'm going to shower and get dressed a bit. I'll be back" She said grabbing a few things before walking out to the bathroom.
"The coffee isn't the best, but supporting small businesses and what not...plus real sugar cubes" Taylor said getting up and passing me one of the cups of coffee and a few sugar cubes.
I took the cup, adding two of the cubes to my coffee in wonder. I took a sip. It was slightly overdone coffee but it wasn't a total loss.
We both sipped at our coffee for a few moments, hearing the shower turn on in the bathroom. I could feel myself relax and I couldn't understand why.
"She slept in the chair?" Taylor questioned, looking at the sheet thrown against the couch he was sitting on.
"I guess so" I replied, taking a few moments to enjoy the caffeine.
Taylor nodded thoughtfully as a thought ran through my head.
"T, you don't need to put yourself in the middle... I would really hate myself if you didn't help Hayley because you were worried about me" I said looking him in the eyes once he finally shifted his hair. I didn't do it too often with people, but I felt like I had to do it to get the point across.
