"thank you for wanting to fix me."

those words hit katya like a ton of bricks. katya liked to keep it professional. she liked to leave all her emotions at the door, she of course would feel sympathetic towards the patients but never let her emotions get to her. you didn't make it very far in this business if you cried at every persons story, if you let every persons problems get you down. no you had to use the right techniques and words to help the person feel better without ever actually becoming emotionally involved.

katya couldn't help but feel a pain in her chest at those words though. it seemed to her that no one had actually tried to help trixie, they had been there for her through the stress but they hadn't actually done anything about it. yes, katya knew the girl had been professionally diagnosed but it baffled her how the girl wasn't on anti-depressants and how she hadn't seen a therapist sooner.

katya sighed and sat back at her desk. she was lucky that trixie was her last appointment of the day. she wasn't sure if she would be able to fake smile to another patient after what trixie had said. she felt different about trixie. she wasn't really sure why but this was probably the most emotionally invested she had felt towards a case in the longest time. in fact it was probably the first time. she packed up her briefcase and left the building.

she got into her car and drove back to her house. for someone who made $70,000 a year, you would think she would live alone, yet, she house shared with her lifelong friend ginger. she had known the girl since elementary school and somehow they had managed to keep in touch.

katya was 29 and single. ginger was also 29 however she was not single. she had a long term boyfriend who she saw every other week so this week katya had the house to herself. katya was glad to go home and not have ginger pester her with questions. she was happy to able to go straight to bed and nap.
