Jean pov: [Yay!! >v<]

"He won't be waking up for a few days at least. His internal organs have been roughed up but it's nothing that requires surgery but the stress on his body is quite a lot and it can be eased out only with continuous rest. And I assume that it will take him at least a month, if not more, to fully recover from the drugs he has been taking for several months now." The doctor explained to me and Kiana san as we stood in the hospital room where the Human Chimera was being treated.

"I see....thank you, Doctor." Kiana san said while giving him a bow.

The doctor merely hummed in response and glanced at the Chimera with an expression of displeasure before he left the room. It was quite obvious that the doctor didn't want to treat a Chimera since they were creatures that most people didn't accept as normal. As far as I had seen though, humans didn't become Chimeras out of their own free will – they were forced into becoming experiments by people who wished to do cruel things. Well, I wasn't entirely comfortable being around Chimera that were part human but I didn't think it was right to scorn them for their existence.

Kiana san seemed to think the same way, or perhaps she had more positive feelings about it, but it was appreciable to see her worried for the Chimera and ensure he got proper medical attention. He needed it too, considering how many scrapes and bruises he had on his body as well as the drugs he had been injected with by the people who had been controlling Polaris City. He was a strong guy because anyone else under similar circumstances would not have been alive anymore. Perhaps the wolf fused with him made him strong and have more endurance.

Kiana san straightened up and sighed while running a hand through her dark hair. She looked tired unlike the energetic and cheerful way she carried herself in Central every day and I couldn't help but worry. She was injured and she hadn't slept since yesterday and the strain was clearly visible on her face.

"Are you feeling okay, Kiana san? You're injured too so maybe you should get some rest and leave one of us to watch over the Chimera instead." I suggested.

She turned to look up at me with a smile. "You don't have to worry about me, Lt. Jean. My injuries aren't all that bad. Besides, I'm a lot tougher than I look."

"I guess you are tough." I responded with a smile but glanced at the blood on her thigh – her wound was bleeding, seeming to have reopened, and it had soaked through her clothes. "But maybe you shouldn't be walking around. Your wound is bleeding again."

She looked down at her thigh and groaned. "Aww man....there goes another pair of pants."

I couldn't help but chuckle a bit at her complaining. She was more worried about the pants rather than her wound – not that it was good but I was glad to see that she was feeling well enough to not worry too much about herself. I placed a hand on her shoulder to make her look up at me with curious eyes. I twitched, realizing for the first time since I met Kiana san and hung out with her that she was much shorter than me. I hadn't seen her up close, at this proximity, and something in my chest seemed to squeeze uncomfortably.

She had a small face with porcelain skin and soft features, and an innocent and childlike spark in her eyes that would make any man's heart melt. The way her dark hair framed her face made her look even more delicate and charming. But there was also an expression of confidence and determination in her eyes that I couldn't help but feel really impressed by. I smiled and shook my head before I spoke again.

"I really think that you should go back to your room and rest – you look like you could use some sleep. I'll have someone stay here and watch over the Chimera for a while." I said. "Or if you will feel at ease, I can stay and keep an eye on the Chimera."
