Checking In

"Well I'm glad to hear things are going so well Stef. I knew eventually Callie would see who you are and open up. Takes time honey and we never really know how much." Captain Roberts said as Stef was sitting beside Lena on the little cabin couch. Both Callie and Mariana had gone to bed being tired from a fun night of singing, roasting marshmallows and enjoying each others company again. It was sweet for both women to see and Stef loved seeing the softer side of her little girl. One she was seeing almost daily now. Putting her feet up on the coffee table Lena handed the woman a cup of tea as she sipped it carefully. Sliding her fingers inside the blondes Lena kissed her cheek as the cop turned to her smiling and letting out a sink. Of course Lena couldn't help but notice how sexy Stef looked in her off the shoulder loose tee shirt and pajama pants. Maybe her mind was in the gutter and she would admit that it was for sure.

"Yeah I mean we have our days mom but for the most part it's been good. Especially the last two weeks we have made a ton of progress. It's almost as if she is starting to trust me. Sure I know we have our days and setbacks but you should have heard her singing tonight. God it was beautiful."

"Well honey I am pretty sure she got her talent from you and I wouldn't be surprised if her voice is just as beautiful. She's a wonderful little girl honey and I'm very happy things are gong well."

"Thanks. How is everything there I feel like I have no clue what is going on in the world." The blonde joked feeling Lena play with her hair as she turned to look at her and smile.

"You aren't missing anything honey. Same set of criminals committing the same idiotic crimes. I didn't want to tell you but we arrested Jenna again. She was in pretty bad shape."

"Crap. Why can't she just get herself together. I mean just one time."

"I don't know but if she doesn't get herself together at some point she is not going to last much longer. As sad as that sounds it's the facts."

"I know mama. I wish I could help her."

"She doesn't want it. Sadly. Some people you just can't help honey as much as I hate to say that." Stef could only shake her head as Lena gently squeezed her hand once again knowing Jenna was a mixed bag of feelings. Yes she herself couldn't stand her from the time they were young and still very much had no sympathy for Jenna but Stef for some reason always did. Always and that never changed no matter what the girl had done.  It was safe to say it still drove Lena crazy to a point but they were older now and in her older age she was trying more and more to understand Stef. 

"I know she doesn't but I wish she did. But all is ok ma?"

"All is fine honey. As your mother I just need to check on you. Still."

"That's ok. I don't mind it." The blonde said smiling and turning to Lena letting her smile grow even more.

"So you are writing some music up there I hope." Cap asked wanting to bring up some of the things she had found out in the last few weeks but she knew now wasn't the time nor the place. They were heavy topics especially the fact that she found out Mike was infact Stef's brother. She had gotten a sample of Mikes DNA without his knowledge as well as the blondes confirming the match even if she had her suspicions. Cap had always suspected some type of relation between the two and was aware their identical last name was no coincidence. Despite the two not looking anything alike she knew Stef looked identical to her mother. It was something she wanted so bad for the blonde and she knew she should hold off on the adoption until Stef could possibly meet Gina Foster. Mike still very much kept in contact with his mother as the older cop struggled to find a way to tell both of them. Was it her job? Maybe not but Stef was her daughter and she would and had done anything for her. And would continue to for the rest of her life.

"A bit yes. Somethings I have been working on. They aren't done yet though.  Mike was talking about coming up for a couple of days. Said he is visiting his mom who lives up here."

"Oh well, that, that is nice. His mother lives in Lake Tahoe?" Cap asked now stuttering a bit.

"Yeah she does apparently. So he is going to come up here and visit her for a bit and we found  place we could possibly play.Maybe if we book it you can come to ma?"

"Stef you know I would love that more than anything. You just tell me the time and place baby."

"That I will. You good? You sure everything is fine?"

"Promise. Now you go spend some much needed alone time with Lena and tell her I said hello."

"I will. I love you mama."

"I love you too honey. Always will."

"I know me too. Goodnight."

"Goodnight my girl."

Hanging up with Cap the blonde looked to Lena somewhat confused.

"What's wrong?"

"MM she sounds funny. Can't put my finger on it but she sounds off to me." Taking a sip of tea Stef had never really heard Cap sound too off. Only certain times had she sounded like that usually if she had something on her mind that she wasn't able to tell the blonde yet. But what could it be?

"Funny how baby?"

"MM I don't know hard to explain.One thing about Cap she won't say shit until she wants to or is ready." the blonde laughed as Lena could only smile.

"Well that sounds all too familiar."

"MM does it now beautiful."Grinning at the slim woman she tucked one of Lena's curls behind her ears.

"Yes miss stubborn."

"Stubborn huh?"

"Yes. And I want to take your stubborn ass in that bedroom and do all kinds of things to you." Lena flirted sliding her finger up and down Stef's arm as the blonde smirked at her.

"MM like?"

"Why don't you come find out." Grabbing the blondes hand Stef could not stop smiling as Lena led her into their bedroom quietly locking the door. Fuck did she miss this woman and all of her.

So Stef and Mike are siblings. I wonder how they will feel about that.
