LENA POV
"Do you have everything?" My mother asked walking into my room as I finished packing the last bag for Europe. Truth was she was getting on my nerves all morning for she didn't realize my mind was occupied with so many other things besides this trip. For one I was so worried about Stef and what my absence would really do to her especially since I knew she had that test coming up. Yes I was aware she wasn't a child and even if she reassured me she would be fine I couldn't help but worry about her and Callie's situation.
"Yes mom I have everything I told you." My tone becoming more snappy by the minute.
"Well, I just want to make sure Lena. I mean it's not like we can just hop in a car and come back to the house honey if you should forget something."
"I know mom. But I have everything and I'm done packing."
"Alright no need to get testy honey. Listen, I was thinking how about we all go to lunch before our flight? To Rivera's? I know how much you like that place."
"I can't mom I told you Stef and I are hanging out."
"MMm, well why don't bring her?"
Looking up from my luggage in annoyance I could see a fake smile form on her face. Was this some kind of trick or was she really serious for there was no way I was subjecting Stef to another one of my mother's dinners. Last time she literally ran both of us out of the house with her interrogation and insensitive questions.
FLASHBACK
"Well, I am so glad you could join us Stefanie. It's much nicer to see you enter through my front door rather then through my daughter's window."
"Mom." I said warning her as I held onto Stef's hand under the table.
"What honey I am just saying. It was a joke relax."
I could only shake my head as I looked to Stef and she let out a soft smile.
"So Stef how is everything? Still interested in the police academy?" My father asked politely as he served her a piece of meatloaf.
"Definitely. If it works out I'll be really excited."
"Well I am sure it will work out. You have nothing to worry about. You're a smart and tough girl so I am sure you will do just fine. I have a few friends, I mean they are old now, but it provided them with a lot of opportunities. You don't even need to be on the street."
"I definitely want to be on the street." She insisted as I let out a smile.
"Ha. Ya'll do great Stef and the salary is pretty good. Will make it a lot easier for you to raise Callie."
"Yeah I hope so. I just want to give my babygirl a good life."
"You will baby." I said as she glanced to me letting out another smile.
