"Mom this is Lena. Lena this is my mother, Captain Roberts." Stef smiled as her hand remained in Lena's and the slim woman smiled. To her it was sweet that she called the woman her mother and she never thought she would hear Stef refer to anyone like that especially after what happened with Sharon. That was a lose that devastated the blonde's entire life and probably still did at times.

"Lena, I must say it is an absolute pleasure to meet you. I have heard so many wonderful things about you." Cap said as she shook hands with the tall slim woman and smiling something she rarly did. But just as Lena was eager to meet her so was Captain Roberts for she wanted to see the woman that her daughter had been in love with her entire life. Yes she seemed a tad shy and very much the opposite of Stef but she appeared to be very intelligent, sophisticated, warm and beautiful.

"It is such a pleasure to meet you too Captain Roberts. I have heard equally amazing things about you from Stef.  All amazing things." Feeling a little intimated by the woman she could certainty see the influence Cap had on her girlfriend and it was evident  how she had been able to change Stef's life around. This woman played no games.

"Stef I set up more files for Callie. Mike has some as well."

"Alright I'll get her started. I'll be at my desk love." Stef winked as she squeezed Lena's hand and walked to her rebellious daughter. As Lena smiled at her girlfriend she turned back to Cap who was smiling herself.

"You have some hold on my daughter's heart. She has been much happier since you two found each other again."

"Yes. It's been....

"Yes interesting. Life is like that. But I don't judge. Anyway I'm sure she has told you how much I drive her insane."

"Definitely not. But I just want to thank you for what you have done for her. There are just no words to express how thankful I am. She had such a hard time and...

"It was my pleasure Lena. Stef is a fighter and she wanted it. I only gave her the support the rest she did herself. She's stubborn which comes in handy."

"True but well, why?"

"Why what?"

"Why did you help her so much and give her extra tips when she worked at that diner?"

"Honest?"

"Yes."

"She reminded me of someone. Still does and she tugged at my heart. No one does that. Plus I could see she was in a ton of trouble even before I found out myself. I knew she was homeless, I knew she lived at the diner sometimes and I knew she didn't make much. I also knew she wanted more out of life and I could see she was trying to. But I also knew she could get caught up in things especially when it came to that girl Jenna. I lost track of Stef for a month back then because she was avoiding me. Ironically when she brought her friend to the ER I bumped into her."

"Lord."

"I assume you know her?"

"I do. Yes. I've always warned Stef about her. Since we were kids. I mean Sharon did too. She always seemed to get Stef in trouble one way or another. I mean I knew she had her own mind too but it was like she just couldn't help it."

"Well there is only so much warning a person can get. Lets be grateful she didn't end up like her. Even if I don't think she was dumb enough to do that. She did her fair share of things I wasn't happy with but she learned and moved on from them."

"I was so worried about her and I didn't know what to do. I..." Feeling tears form in her eyes Cap gently placed her hand on top of Lena's arm.

"And Lena you were a baby yourself. Stef needed a parent. She needed guidance and structure in order to get herself and her life together. She loved you and loves you still and I know you loved and love her but at that time you weren't what she needed to change her life. She needed a parent more then anything. Don't feel bad and don't feel guilty for not being able to be that. That's not your role in her life. Yes she talked about you all the time and cried many many times for you as I'm sure you did for her. She wanted to marry you but I told her if your relationship was meant to happen that it would regardless. Sure I saw her go on dates useless ones but she was always looking for you. Always."
