Be easy with North... he's still the boy we all know and love!

"Join us, Sang!" Luke and Gabriel shouted from atop the obsidian platform. Apparently, it was usually used for meetings, the speaker standing at a podium on it. Now, it was being used as a dancefloor for the two boys.

I giggled, shaking my head and choosing to stay sitting on the large couch instead. At some point, Silas had thrown an arm over my shoulders. His fingertips traced my collarbone every time I laughed, shooting heat down my arm. I was usually very uncomfortable with touching, Kota being the exception, but I didn't seem to mind Silas. When he first pulled me down next to him, I tensed up but he told me jokes until I relaxed.

"You sure you don't want to go up there, aggele? I could put on something better to dance to." He wiggled his eyebrows but I could see he was only joking. I laughed, his eyebrows looking like furry caterpillars when he moved them.

"Luke, get off of there before you get hurt," a voice thundered. I whipped my head around to look at the newcomer.

He was smaller than Silas, albeit taller than the other boys, but exuded a different air. While Silas was playful, this man seemed angry, his shouts pairing with said emotion.

I didn't need more angry people in my life. I had just been murdered in cold blood by one. My dead life should be anger-free.

"Awe, c'mon North. Stop being such a party pooper," Luke whined. With a final glare, Luke and Gabe finally climbed down. I didn't see the need to be so protective. It's not like they could die or get injured, right?

North. That was the same name as the man Silas said he didn't want me to meet. I understand why now.

The intimidating man snapped his eyes to mine, having just realized I was here when Gabe shot me a wink. His blood red eyes seemed to glow, the color much scarier than black ever would be, as they scanned down and back up my body.

     "Who the fuck are you?"

Silas rolled his eyes, "Chill out, North. This is Sang. She's Kota's friend."

His eyes narrowed as he raised an eyebrow, his eyes flitting back and forth between the arm wrapped around my shoulders and Silas.

"Just trying to make her comfortable," Silas grinning. I elbowed him lightly making him bark out a laugh. Ticklish, are we? I'd have to remember that for later.

"I told all of you I don't want any whores around here. Take them somewhere else if you're so desperate," he snarled.

I flinched back, the word feeling like a slap. Trust me, I've had my fair share of them to know.

Did everyone feel that way about me? My mother had been a little crazy, her brain being turned to mush from both cancer and the drugs she had been taking, so I thought maybe that was why she used the words she did. North seems to see it too, though. Is that what Silas thought? Is that why he held me close to him on the couch even though we had just met a few hours ago?

Silas growled, "Shut the fuck up, North, and have some damn manners. This may be a different age but that doesn't mean you can stop respecting women. Think of what your mother would've said if she heard that."

He scoffed, "Well, my mother's dead so doesn't really matter now does it."

I frowned. He was so unlike the others. He was what I had thought a demon was like: large and scary and mean.
