"What the hell, Maya?" my mam pulled me aside away from Jax and the doctor's ear shot. "You don't even know the guy plus he's just woken up from a coma."

I tap my foot on the floor, feeling super awkward at the circumstance I'm currently in. Of course in my mother's eyes Jax and I are just strangers but in mine, we are way past that.

"It was love at first sight?" I say the only thing that I can think of that makes a little sense. I force myself to look into her eyes. She's confused as expected but she's also angry. Shit. Do I tell her? That somehow we were in a different reality when we were in a coma? I'll just sound absolutely insane, even if I have Jax to vouch for me, we'll both be looked at like we're actually having a mental breakdown and then we'll be shipped away and put into a crazy home. Yeah, not happening.

"I don't know what came over me, ok? We both got lost in each other and we kissed, it's not a crime. You can calm down now,"

Her eyes narrow at mine before her face relaxes bouncing back to her normal, neutral expression. "Fine." she spits out. She turns around to leave but before she does she turns back and points a finger at me. "Behave." and then she's out of the room. I let out a sigh and jump onto my bed. I can hear the doctor speaking to Jax beside me. I try my best to not listen in and instead I just stare at the ceiling unsure of what to actually do with myself. I just want to get out of here. It's been too long. I have to face the real world someday. Beside me, I hear the doctor say goodbye before heavy footsteps sound getting softer and softer, signalling he was walked away. I jump out of bed, eager to speak to Jax. I open the curtains to see Jax in a sitting position. The back of the bed is lifted so he has back support. He turns his head to look straight at me, once his eyes meet mine, a smile is plastered on his face replacing the frown he had on before.

"Hey," he speaks first.

I smile, stupidly. "Hey," I walk over and sit on the edge of his bed.

"I didn't tell him about the weird dream that we both somehow shared, I thought they would we were insane."

"Good, when I woke up I told my mam about you and she looked at me like I crazy."

A laugh erupts from his chest.

"So, how are you doing?" I ask, curious.

"Doctor, says I'm good." he reaches out and takes my hand in his. He squeezes my hand gently. I smile at the gesture, feeling less alone knowing that we're on the same page.

"You know when we were in that dream." I look at him to see him listening to me intently. "Was everything you said true, like about your family? Do they live up North? And do you have a sister?"

"Yeah, it's true." he lets out a sigh. "I also did get kicked out of school many times and my parents did send me down here, except in the 'fake' world I went to live with Mark, my parent's family friends."

I nod remembering him and the whole basement scenario.

"But, Mark doesn't exist in this world. It's Marco, my actual Uncle from Italy."

"Ok," I say, understanding what he's saying. "So, do you still live next door to me?" I ask dying to know the answer.

He smiles at me before he leans in and places a soft lingering kiss on my lips, he pulls away. "I'm still your neighbour."

Jax and I were released on the same day. Jax took less time to recover because he was already very physically fit before the coma which helped him pass through the physiotherapy. It was strange walking into my house, it was clean. The last time I saw this place, it was turned upside down by my hand. It doesn't feel like I haven't been in here for six months, it feels like I haven't been in here for about a week. My room was kept as normal. The biggest challenge was looking at Marco's house and remembering the horrible occurrence that happened. I've met Marco a few times now, he is super kind. He's also very genuine. A complete opposite of Mark. It turns out Jax's parents are moving down here also. That means that Jax won't be my neighbour for long but at least I can finally meet his family. I hear the doorbell sound from downstairs. I hop off my bed. I stumble a little, my right leg numb from sitting in the same position for too long. I walk down the stairs and open the door. I blink multiple times before fully acknowledging the person in front. Her hair is styled in a half up - half down way but she has a bun on top of her head. My eyes trail down and I smile at the cute yellow dress that she has on.
