Chapter One ✓

"Right. I have an announcement!"
The captain stood on the stairs to his office with his hands clasped behind his back. The booming voice of the captain caught most peoples attention, a few people still mumbling among themselves. The captain began to speak
"Since Cyberlife sent us an Android, cases are being solved ten times quicker than before, as well as crime rates dropping. So I have decided that Cyberlife should send us another and maybe more in the future. It is undecided who it will be partnered with for the moment. It should arrive here at noon, be prepared. That's all."
Everyone returns back to whatever work they were doing. However, a certain detective sat in the cafeteria, drinking coffee.
"Why the fuck do we need another Android? One's enough!" Gavin grouched before taking a sip of his coffee. He soon finishes his coffee before returning to his desk and doing everything he can to procrastinate - anything was better than doing work to Gavin. After all, he had a reputation to uphold.

Noon rolled around sooner than expected, with no sight of the new Android. Everyone was on edge, thinking that soon they might be replaced by Androids while Gavin didn't care at all. Gavin sat there with his head buried in his arms on the table, napping happily. A distant voice asks
"Excuse me, where is the Captains office?" Someone mumbles a reply as Rk900 makes his way towards his destination. Gavin peeks as the Android walks by and knocks before entering the office. He watches through the glass wall of the office as the captain stands up to examine the robot and as the silent conversation plays out before deciding to go back to sleep.
Just as he got comfortable, a voice disturbs him, the captains voice, to be precise
"Detective Reed. I'd like a word with you." Gavin lifts his head to see the Captain holding open the door to his office, waiting for Gavin to get up and enter so Gavin does just that. He glances at the Android before flopping down on a seat in front of the desk, mumbling
"Yes, Captain?"
The captain sits at the opposite side and links his hands together.
"Detective Reed, it's been decided that Rk900 will be partnered with you."
Gavin sits up straight and blurts out "What?!" Rk900 stands silently and surveys the situation, his LED blinking yellow with curiosity. The captain sighs,
"Your work proformance has gone down in the past few weeks. You're a good Detective but your arrogance prevents you from showing it. I think working with Rk900 will give you the kick up the ass you need-" Before the captain can say anymore, Gavin interrupts
"With all due respect, Captain, you can't do this. I will not work with a freaking Android!" The captain holds up a hand, silencing him before turning his cold glare to the detective once more.
"You will work with it or you won't work here at all. My choice is final. Now take it and leave." Gavin sits there in awe before standing up and marching out of the office. Rk900 turns his attention to the captain after standing in silence.
"Thank you captain, I'll do my best." The captain sighs "Make sure he does some actual work." Rk900 nods before following Gavin out of the office.
