Annie was gone, and I was bored to death,
So I pulled myself up out of the bed.
I'd made it to the door when Buck appeared
He took one look at me and said what I feared.
"3Gun said as soon as you're hale,
You've got to go back to jail.
I've taken a job using hammer and nail,
and I'll try to get you out on bail."
I snorted. "Forget it, will you?
I don't need your money.
Enjoy your life with Lou."
He looked startled.
"Let's get this over with."
He walked me down to the hotel
since prisoners couldn't yet be put in the jail.
Before the door was locked,
I called his name and he stopped.
"Buck?"
"Yeah?"
He glanced out the window and saw Lou
walking arm in arm with you-know-who...
Shamus.
"Look out for Annie."
He opened his mouth, and closed it again.
"Sure thing." He gave a weak grin.
I sighed as he rushed out after Lou.
Locked up again...what was I going to do?
