chapter 6: it hurts..

You remembered everything from the beginning....from the day you were transferred to this school,

Indeed, Jungkook was strangely nice to you, he was getting close to you too fast and it was too good to be true,

You were right, Jungkook changed with you just when Kai started talking to you,

And Jungkook gets upset everytime he sees you with Kai,

Everything starts to make sense now,

'So Jungkook was just playing with me ?'

Your eyes filled up with tears, your heart hurt, and you felt more stupid than any other time,

You wouldn't care if you didn't feel anything for him, but you do...

You looked down at Kai who was already sleeping and wiped away your tears,

The next morning, you hardly left your bed since you couldn't sleep, thinking about whether you'll do something about it or not,

Before you left to school, you checked on Kai and thanked god he was still asleep, you somehow didn't want to talk to him,

You were so early,

Not many students were there and that was better for you,

You decided to ask your coach if you could practise late this afternoon rather than just after school,

You obviously didn't know how you'd react when you see Jungkook,

You knocked on the door of his office and waited,

"Come in !" you heard him then opened it,

Before you could walk in, you froze when you saw Jungkook sitting opposite your coach, helping him with some papers,

A sharp pain hit your chest as your heart beated as if you ran a hundred miles,

'Why do i still feel like this ?'

You didn't realize you were intensely looking at Jungkook until he frowned at you,

"Y/n ?" your coach called for the third time,

"I'm sorry, i'll come back later " you said at once before you left them both confused,

You sure were hurt and disappointed but you were also mad and even angry at him,

"What's wrong ?" a familiar voice startled you and made you stop,

You recognized it, you looked around with a cold glare,

You could see how confused he was,

But you were more confused as you felt as if he was worried about you,

You never were like this, you're never cold, you never ignore and you never glare at him,

You looked around and started walking away again,

...which made him even more puzzled,

"Y/n i'm talking to you ! " he raised his voice,

You immediately and angrily looked at him,

"Well then don't ! " you said, already frustrated,

He was taken aback by your sudden attitude,

You were about to walk away again but you stopped yourself,

You turned your head to him again and swallowed hard,

He was still frowning, still confused, and still froze in his spot,

" do you...feel something towards me ?"

His eyes widened at your unexpected question,

For him, it was impossible you could know about the bet, it's been a while and even his friends don't think about it now,

You couldn't believe you just ask him that,

But you wanted to know, you needed to know,

You walked closer to him and you could see how his face was blushing,

"Have you ever felt something ? When we went on the date ? ...when we used to go to the park ? ..when we used to text late at night ?" you asked softly, tears already filling your eyes,

He was struggling with his words, he didn't expect you to ask that at all,

His eyes were fixed on yours, as if he suddenly got lost,

But when he felt another presence, his eyes shifted behind your back where Kai was listening to every word,

You didn't notice him, you just waited for Jungkook's answer,

He looked back at you and his expression changed,

You'd sworn he had the softest expression just a second before,

"No.." he let out shortly,

Your whole body shivered at it,

For a second, you thought he'd say yes...you hoped he'd say yes,

Tears were choking you and you started to feel weak as your whole body ached,

"No ?"

You wanted him to change his mind...or even lie to you, you just didn't want him to be cold, you didn't want to believe he was just  playing with you,

"..no..."

You were hurt...and you didn't care if he noticed it,

You broke the long eye contact and looked down,

'Until when he'll make me feel small..?'

You closed your eyes and swallowed your tears away,

Jungkook's eyes didn't leave your face, he was looking down at you, he wanted to wipe those tears off, he wanted to apologize for hurting you but he couldn't...just because he didn't want to seem weak in front of Kai, he didn't want to seem 'the loser'..

You took a deep breath and opened your eyes,

You nodded your head and decided you won't show him your true feelings,

"okay.." you whispered without looking at him,

You turned around and silently walked away,

Kai, on the other hand, didn't remember anything and he didn't understand what was going on but he liked it, he wanted it,

You were determined to forget about him, you thought nothing is preventing him from telling you the truth,

For a moment, you wished Kai was right, just one part of what he said,

He made it feel like Jungkook had feelings for you, otherwise why would he get upset when he sees you with Kai ?

Jungkook started breathing hardly, watching you walk away, as if someone just took away a piece of his heart,

'Why is it so hard to give up ?' he thought,

'is it over ?'
