i am an alcoholic

i have been an alcoholic since the day i was born

i had my first drink when i was 12

i had my first joint that same night

i had my first line of cocaine when i was 13

i started popping pain killers and benzos at 14

tried heroin at 15

almost died everyday inbetween

got sober at 16 

stayed sober for 17

going on 18

i am an alcoholic

i can't drink like you

i cant go to my 21st birthday party 

pick up a drink

and put it down

i am an alcoholic

i can not stop after one

or two

or three

or 10

if i have the opportunity i will never stop drinking

i am an alcoholic that found a new way of living so everyday i don't think i am going to die

and for that i am a grateful alcoholic
