Chapter ten: Somebody That I Used to Know

Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad it was over

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
Part of me believing it was always something that I'd done
But I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's Monday.
My old pack told us that we would be going to school with them. By that, they mean the same school. Not like car pooling or whatever, but going to be in some of each other's classes and stuff.
Everyone either got into their own car with some people and drove to school, or they just drove by themselves.
Matt and I decided to drive together. No one else. Just us.
We had to borrow James's car. Unfortunately. I decided against the idea that we should take James's car, but Matt said that we should be nice to James because he let us borrow his car. I had rolled my eyes at that.
The car that we borrowed from James was a white Audi.
James said that it would take us about a good thirty minutes to get to school.
And after that, everyone took off to go to school.
* * *
We  were zooming down a curving, twisting road.
It was about ten minutes, and it already felt like a hour.
It was quiet between Matt and I for some reason.
Every time I would try and talk to him, he wouldn't answer.
Thoughts had ran through my head like: Is he mad at me? Did I do something wrong? If I did, what did I do?
So after like, I dunno, like twenty tries to getting Matt to talk, I gave up.
I leaned my head against the window shield, and remembered last night.
"What are you doing down here?" I ask him.
My brother had his hands behind his back and started to walk around me. "I could ask you the same thing."
