I would not allow it.

I would not let us all die merely because of a wretched beast from a kingdom that deserved to be tarnished.

Where is she?

Where is my mate?

Where is my High Lady?

Where is my wife?

Where is she, where is she, where is she?

Our past had repeated again, at the courtesy of Hybern.

Though I was not the one who had fallen, Feyre had.

The forest was silent, the birds having stopped their chirping.

And the bond went dark.

Pure, unmistakably, painfully dark.

I caught it then, a whiff of her scent.

A tiny, minuscule trail, yet it was enough.

I flew, faster than I thought I could, yearning to see her face.

She was not dead, or else I would have been too.

She was not dead.

But there were many things worse than death.

Fear raced through my veins, panic burning and beating with each and every part of my heart.

Where is she?

I yanked on our mating  bond, just to sense where she was, what was happening.

And finally, finally a small light shown through the darkness, and I used it, tracking it.

I had once told her that I did not know if I would be able to control myself if she was in danger while bearing our child.

I thought it would be wrath that showed.

Pure unending wrath that would have threatened to consume the world whole.

And that was there, no doubt surrounding it.

But all I felt was fear, true fear that threatened to shatter my control and turn that wretched, useless land across the sea into nothing.

I sighed, and speared out my power again, watching as darkness continued to seep in.

It did not help that this forest was full of beasts who yearned for a taste of human flesh.

A scream rang across the land, echoing through the air, and my head shot up in the direction of the noise.

Feyre

The scream, that scream was fully of agony.

She must have ripped out the dagger buried into her shoulder.

Or... our child could have-

No, I would not think about that chance.
