"Ughh..." Ashlie flopped over on Wilford. "Remind me why we're doing this again?"

Cory ignored her and continued staring at the map. Tommy was successfully sleeping on his horse, yet somehow keeping full control. Ashlie glared at him enviously.

"To find who killed Mom," Nick glanced over at Ashlie and yawned. "Don't know why we decided to do it today, though."

"This was a great idea," Jon said in a wobbly voice, before flopping over onto Leo who was steering their horse. His muffled voice leaked through Leo's fur. "I hate my life..."

"POR QUE?" Ashlie screamed into the trees.

Cory turned around and glared at them. "Shut up!" He seethed through his teeth. "It's freaking four in the morning and I do not want to deal with your temper tantrums, Ashlie."

"Excuse me?" Ashlie said in a squeaky voice, raising her eyebrows. "Are you sassing me Cory?"

"Ooh, I think he's sassing you, Ashlie," Nick joked back.

"Oh, yeah," They heard Jon tiredly mumble from Leo's back. Ashlie giggled.

"Cut me a-"

"Will you shut up?" Cory shouted, whipping around.

"Alright, jeeze Cory!" Ashlie mumbled. "Can we please just take a break?"

"Not yet," Cory responded, turning back to the map and wishing he was able to roll his eyes. "In about an hour, we'll be far enough away from civilization that no one will be able to hear Tommy snore."

"I'll have you know I'm a very quiet sleeper," Tommy mumbled, sitting up from his horse.

"Oh, shut up," Cory huffed, turning back to his map. "I thought you were sleeping."

"If I'm able to sleep silently on a horse, then I certainly should be quiet sleeping on the ground," Tommy smirked.

"Ohhh-" Ashlie said, grinning.

"Shut up!" Cory shouted.

"I told you already!" Everyone but Leo echoed back. Leo looked at them, confused, as they all started cracking up.

"Morons," Cory muttered, riding ahead of them.

A figure watched the tired friends from the shadows, their form seeming to shimmer a bit in the darkness. They were completely hidden by the darkness around them, yet they could easily see and hear all that went on around them.

They watched the crew ride ahead, then opened their mouth. A few strange symbols flew out of their mouth, yet no sound accompanied it. With the words, their form seemed to melt, and they disappeared from the path. However, a piece of paper fluttered out of their pocket, and came to rest on the road:

No one saw it as it sat there, bearing a message left behind, but not forgotten.

A message? In code? That could potentially bear important information for the future of the story? Woah! But how can we decode this strange language? Has Miss Sneaky Author left us a hint somewhere else?

Sorry that this is short, and that it took a while. I had it pretty much done for a while, but I always felt like it was way too short, and tried to find ways to make it longer. However, this little joke scene does have a little bit of info important to the future of this story. Sorry if my handwriting is a little messy.

If any of you manage to decode the message, feel free to put it in a comment! But I suggest trying to find out the code yourself. Unless you don't have much time. If you are interested in trying to decode this and want the picture, tell me and I can try to find a solution. Does PMing pictures work?

Also, should I start double spacing my paragraphs? I know it makes things easier; I will do it for this chapter and keep doing it in the future if you like it that way more.

Anyways, hope you enjoyed! I will try to keep getting these out, but you know how it goes. Enjoy your holidays! And if it's not the holidays anymore for you and you're reading this, then enjoy whatever day it is!
