Wandering aimlessly around the streets of the city, Duke finally found a spot to rest for awhile. There was a giant cardboard box behind a local Italian restaurant. Cautiously, he approached it. Luckily, no one was using the box, so he helped himself to it and crawled inside.
Within minutes of entering the cardboard box, he was settled down inside just as a cold rain began to fall. Thank goodness I found this! Duke thought quietly to himself. He sighed long and hard as he thought of the warm apartment, the food that came with it, and of course, Max and Katie. Don't think about them, just don't! the thought screamed at him. Yet as he drifted off into a deep sleep, they showed up in his dreams. Saddened by the memories, Duke whimpered softly as he slept.
