One Shots

Nida&Niall

"So where are we going for dinner?" I ask my mom, my stomach rumbling as I sit on the edge of the hotel bed. We were on vacation in Ireland, visiting one of my mom's old college friends who had moved to the UK after school. It was my first time out of the country and I was super excited to be here, even if I wasn't going to be able to do much since mom would be visiting people. 

"I don't know" she replies " I really don't know the restaurants around here."

"NANDOS" I shout immediately. It was Niall's favorite restaurant and given we were in Ireland it just made sense to go there. I knew that I wouldn't see him here since he was suppose to be off in London right now recording the new album but it was still the thought that counts. My mom lets out a laugh, shaking her head at my excitedness.

"Ok, I'll call Maura and see if she wants to meet us there" she replies. I sit on the bed bouncing in excitement. I'd be going to Niall's favorite restaurant. It might even be one that he's been to before, I think excitedly. "She says ok" my mom says after hanging up the phone.

"Yay" I shriek jumping off the bed, and scrambling to put  my shoes on. My mom laughs at my enthusiasm.

"Calm down" she says with a smile, "We'll have to wait a bit, she has to pick up her son from the train station first. Then the two of them will meet us there" I let out a dejected sigh, nodding my head before flopping back down on the bed. I couldn't be to upset though, I mean, I was in Ireland and we were going to Nandos soon. 

"So who is this friend of yours again" I ask my mom. She just gives me a smile. 

"Someone I've known for a while" she responds vaguely. "You've never met her before" I eye her suspiciously, there was something she wasn't telling me. She had been acting weird for weeks now, ever since this trip had been planned. After another 20 minutes, we finally start getting ready to go. I put on my shoes and we head out to the lobby and ask the front desk for a taxi. When the taxi comes, my mom tells the driver where to go before sitting back. I look out the window at the landscape as we drive. It was so beautiful here. Finally, we get to the Nandos and the two of us walk in. My mom looks around, searching to see if her friend was here but she didn't see her so we sat down at a booth. My mom took the seat facing the door so she'd be able to see her friend arrive. I start looking over the menu, trying to figure out what I'd want when I hear my mom call someone over to the table. I set the menu down and see a lady walking over and someone trailing behind. I couldn't see the person well though because my mom's friend was blocking him from view. 

"Maura, this my daughter Nida" my mom says introducing her to me. "Nida this is my friend Maura."

"Hello" I say politely. I look over at the boy who had stepped into view, throwing an arm around his mom's shoulders smiling down at me. My mouth drops. No way.

"And I think you know her son" my mom says, a twinkle in her eye.

"Hullo Nida" he says with a smile. "I'm Niall"
