Chapter Twenty Four

Few days have passed and Raffy's anxiety in deciding as to accept or not the offer of his Dad to manage their cruise business still haunts him.  He is beginning to consider the point of his Mom to at least try to get an experience in managing the business. He realized that the experience that he would get on-board their luxury ship might be an additional lesson that he may share to others once he pushes his dream of having a career in an academe.

It will be very easy for him to do it if he will not think of Athena. His girl is starting to be very dependent on him. She is already used to having him around. She may tell him to go back to Manila to patch things up with his Dad but he knows that she'll expect him to quickly come back to Germany.

He just started his skype chat with his Mommy Liza when Athena suddenly arrives. He and his Mom are discussing about the luxury ship and he does not know if Athena was able to hear his conversation with his Mom.

"Mom, Athena is here. She is home early today"  Raffy told his Mom while he extended his arms to Athena.  She took it and shyly sat beside Raffy and he just remained holding her hand.

"Hello Tita Liza, how are you po?" Athena greeted.

"Hello Athena, I'm good. Thank you for asking, you look good" Liza said

"Thank you po Tita" Athena replied

"By the way iha, let me thank you for accommodating Raffy in your place. At least now I am sure that he is safe" Liza said.

"You're welcome po. Maiwan ko na po muna kayo baka naistorbo ko po kayo" Athena again replied

"Ok lang naman iha, we were just discussing his attendance on his Kuya's wedding" Liza said

"Nabanggit nga po nya, I told him nga po na he should come home to attend because it is kuya's special day. Also, maybe that will be the best time to talk to Tito Mario" Athena said

"Thank you for understanding iha.  Raffy is very lucky to have you as his girlfriend" Liza said

"Say it louder Mom, baka hindi narinig ng mahal na prinsesa" Raffy said smiling

"Narinig ko" Athena told Raffy. "Thank you po tita, I'm also lucky po kasi si Raffy ang boyfriend ko" she added

"I think I will like where this conversation is going to" Raffy said

"Do not flatter yourself, baka isumbong ko kay Tita yung mga kalokohan mo" Athena threatens

"I'm really happy that you end up with each other. Our families have known each other for a long time already and I always say that you have a beautiful family Athena. Your parents have raised you and your siblings really well" Liza said.

"That's so flattering Tita Liza, Thank you po. Ah Tita, about my family po" Athena replied

"Don't worry iha, Raffy warned me already and I am keeping my mouth shut. Though on a mother's point of view, it is still better if you tell them. But of course, we will respect your decision about it. Your secret is safe in me iha, not even Tito Mario would know about it" Liza declared.

"Thanks Tita, I appreciate it so much" Athena replied

"Pasensya ka na sa kakulitan ni Raphael paminsan-minsan" Liza said "Pero mabait namang bata yan kahit medyo stubborn"

"Mabait naman talaga si Raphael Tita. Pero yung medyo stubborn po, parang hindi naman po medyo" Athena replied and Liza laughs out loud

"Ganon ba? Then tell me if he becomes a pain in the neck. Ako ang kakastigo agad" Liza replied

"Now I am beginning to dislike the conversation" Raffy butts-in "Bye for now Mom, we need to start preparing for dinner and it's pass your bedtime na rin dyan sa Manila" he said

"Am I seeing you in three weeks Raphael?" Liza asked

"I'm still thinking about it Mom. I will let you know" Raffy replied

"Don't worry Tita, I'll convince him to go back to Manila in time for Kuya's wedding" Athena said

"Oh, thank you very much Athena. I'll hang up now and take care of yourselves" Liza said before she went off line.

"And what made you so sure that you can convince me to attend kuya's wedding?" Raffy asked

"Because kuya has nothing to do with your misunderstand with Tito Mario" Athena replied

"Ayokong umuwi ng Pilipinas Athena Rose"  Raffy firmly said.

"Bakit?" Athena asked

"Because I don't want to, end of conversation" Raffy replied.

"Hindi pwedeng dahil ayaw mo lang or hindi mo lang feel. There is a reason behind it Raphael and I intend to know what is it" Athena firmly said as well

"I don't want to talk to my dad. I don't want to patch things up with him." Raffy replied

"Bakit nga? Hindi ko naiintindihan Raphael, ipaliwanag mo kaya nang mabuti" Athena said

"I don't want to leave Germany, I don't want to leave you. Dahil hindi ako sigurado kung makakabalik pa ako dito sa Germany pag umuwi ako sa Pilipinas" Raphael honestly said "If I talk to my Dad, he might convince me to take over the management of the luxury ship, at hindi ko alam kelan ako makakabalik dito sa yo" he added

"The more you have to talk to your Dad, para alam mo how to compromise" Athena said

"You do not know him your majesty" Raffy said

"Yes you are right. Mas kilala mo si Tito Mario, so you know how to handle him better that I?" Athena asked

"What if hindi na ako makabalik dito sa Germany, dito sa yo?" Raffy insisted

"If that will be the case then magtiis tayo, I am not staying in Germany for good. Babalik din ako sa Pilipinas after my studies.  Also, we can make use of the technology" Athena said

Raffy blew a big sigh and said "Nag-usap na ba kayo ng Mommy ko? Bakit pareho kayo ng sinasabi? Am I annoying you that is why you are pushing me away"

"Are you seriously asking me that? Because if so, that is the most immature question I've ever heard from you" Athena said

"I just want to know, why are you pushing me away?" Raffy asked

"When I was struggling for get my Dad's permission to study here in Germany Ate told Dad that sometimes people needs to be apart in order to grow. I am beginning to be dependent on you and I don't like that." Athena said

"You don't want to be dependent on me?" Raffy asked

"Yes, I don't want to be dependent to you and to anyone else. I don't want my life to stop because of anyone's absence" Athena said while Raffy remained silent. Athena wraps her arms around his waist and said "I am not pushing you away, I am just accepting the possibility of a LDR. Raphael, not because I will let you go, it would mean I love you less"

Raffy could not believe what he heard from Athena, he slightly pushed her so she could face him.

"Did I hear it right? You said you love me" Raffy asked

Athena smiles and replied "Yes I just did".

"Talaga ba? Wala nang bawian?" he asked

"Talaga po, wala na pong bawian" she replied

"Then marry me Athena Rose. Let's get married before I go back to Manila" Raffy straightly said while Athena got shocked and was not able to utter any word.
