April 15th. School.

Lucas approached Maya. Maya was a little sad that morning.

Lucas: Hello my beautiful stack of pancakes. *Flirty.

Maya: Hey.

Lucas: Look, I'm still so sorry about everything --

Maya: It's okay Huckleberry. * She said with a quick smile.

Lucas helped Maya with her books, and both went to class. In class, Lucas kept staring at her, she was looking at Mr. Matthews but didn't answer any of his questions with sarcasm like she always does, she was looking at the empty desk right next to her. Lucas sighed, and Maya pretended to be asleep, while some tears appeared in her eyes. She missed Riley.

After class.

Lucas followed her.

Lucas: Are you okay?

Maya: Yes. *She lied.

Lucas: Maya, she's where she needs to be right now.

Maya: I said I was just great! *Moody.

Lucas: She's your best friend, it's okay if you feel bad.

Maya: Lucas, I don't want to talk about it now. *Holding her tears.

Lucas sighed.

Lucas: So... um... I wanted to ask you...

She looked at him with curiosity.

Lucas: If you want to have dinner tonight... at my house?

Maya thought about it for a minute.

Lucas: I want my parents to REALLY know you.

Maya got nervous.

Maya: I... I really want to, but --

Lucas: I know, it freaks me out too, but I think that's what we have to do.

Maya: Okay.

Lucas: I pick you up at eight.

Maya: Great. * She smiled nervously.

Afterschool. Maya's Apartment.

Maya: Mom, I have nothing to wear!!

Maya said while walking to her Mom in a different outfit for the ninth time.

Katy: You look beautiful in all of them.

Maya: But they're not enough to make a good impression, I gotta find something!! *Desperate.

Maya looked for another outfit, but Katy stopped her.

Katy: Babygirl, you're overreacting, they're people like you and me, and the only way you can make a good impression is by being yourself.

Maya: What if they don't like me?

Katy: They will, and if they don't that not your problem, you have a lot more important things to worry about.

Maya: Yes, but I still want them to know I'm more than a huge mess.

Katy: You're not, it'll be okay, just relax.
