CHASE- 4:30am- JUNE 29

I knock gently on Kat's bedroom door.

"Kat?" I call.

When there's no response, I sigh.

She's probably still asleep.

I open her door and walk into her bedroom.

When I reach her bed, I glance down and see her still sleeping peacefully.

She looks so sweet and restful as she sleeps. Her blanket is wrapped around her body, and I can only see her head peeking out.

Her snoring is so loud. I'm surprised it didn't wake me up earlier.

I almost feel bad for having to wake her up so early.

Almost.

In one swift motion, I pull the blanket off her.

She gives a little squeak, and then hugs herself into a ball before opening her eyes slowly.

She looks up and sees me in her room.

"What are you doing here?" She asks me, a little alarmed.

Wow, she must have some kind of short term memory loss.

"We're running, remember?" I remind her, still holding the blanket above her.

She sighs loudly and curses, burying her head in her hands.

"Wow, you have a bad habit of cursing." I say.

"I thought you were joking about that running everyday thing." She tells me, looking back up at me.

"I never joke about running," I respond.

That's one of the few things I don't joke about.

"Fine," she sighs, exasperated.

I know that once I leave her bedroom, she'll fall back asleep.

Suddenly, she looks down at her body and notices that the blanket that she was hugging to her body is no longer there.

I look down to see that she's barely clothed, wearing a pair of incredibly short silk shorts that look like they could be underwear, and an extremely thin black tank top that shows pretty much everything.

She catches me staring.

"Oh God," I wince, looking away quickly, "Sorry."

I feel blood rush to my cheeks immediately- and another part of my body that I'm not too willing to let her know about.

Since when does the sight of a woman's body fluster me so easily?

How does Kat do this to me?

"Chase, give me back my blanket!" Kat snaps me back to real life.

I turn to look at her, which is a mistake.

She's trying cover herself, hugging her body tightly.

I turn away quickly again.

"You want your blanket back?" I start, with sudden initiative.

"Yeah, you ass-hat! Give it to me!" Kat demands.

"Then get up." I tell her, a smirk forming on my face.

Smart.

That'll get her up.

She groans loudly.

"Don't look." She tells me, slowly getting up from the bed.

"No promises..." I joke, winking at her.
