Winn's pov

Maggie wasn't excused for today's class like Kara, but skipped it anyway.

That's pretty normal. What isn't so normal is Lena, she's so out of it. Twice her attention was called by Ms. Grant, asking for her thoughts about the Scarlet Letter and she was just totally out of her A-game. Twice also, she's been saved by Barbara who's totally eager enough to impress Ms. Grant.

What's with Lena?...last text I received says Kara's doing fine with her bruises, so that can't be reason enough for Lena to be this upset.

Unless mama Luthor's back bringing forth apocalypse with her...

OMFG! The principal is back?!! Why??! Can she not get back and just get stuck in a glacier somewhere 'til I graduate next year??!...

Aargh! Sucks...

Kara's pov

"Are you acting out because of the divorce??"

After Lena and I got caught smooching, and she left, mom stood still by the door for about an eternity in silence before she walked back and forth in my room, one hand pressing her temples and the other on her hip. She didn't say a word 'til just now.

"Has Alex have anything to do with this?" her hands motioning in the air, "Whatever this is..."

"No mom, Alex has nothing to do with me and Lena...it just happened,"

"Happened?! What do you mean happened?? Things don't just happen on its own Kara, sweetie... I'm still trying to process what Alex's going through, and then suddenly, I'll find out you're kissing girls too??"

"Mom please..."

"This is about your father, isn't it?... you're doing this to sought your father's attention. You can always call him, Kara, talk to him...divorce or him leaving us didn't erase the fact he's your father, but if you're looking to putting us back together and bring us back to Riverdale by doing this, that's just not gonna work, sweetie..."

"Mom I'm not acting out..." maybe trying to come out, sure I thought to myself. "As much as I miss our simple small town life, I've grown to like it here...Lena helped me with that,"

"Of course she did," mom scoffed. "If this isn't about your dad, what is it? Are you experimenting? Is this a phase for you?"

"Mom no...it's not like that,"

"Then, enlighten me Kara... because I am miserably failing to understand both you and Alex," she said, exasperated.

"Mom... I didn't expect any of this to happen, nor I asked for it. I met Lena at a time where my entire world just turned upside down inside out, and she was there for me, being kind, being a friend. Right from the beginning we have this connection, a very strong connection that I just can't ignore, or stuff in duffel bag and toss it to the moon. And in all of the time I've spent with her, no matter how short it is, I got to realize she is the person I want to be with, share and make memories with...I fell in love with Lena as the person she is, not because she's a girl and I'm gay..."

"Sweetie..."

"I don't know if you'll ever understand that, but what I need now is for you to accept,..."

"Kara, sweetie...I can't accept something I don't understand...but you're my child, and I love you. I want what's best for you. What else am I supposed to do now? Ban you and your feelings for Lena and have you run away from me, hating me?" Mom sat beside me and looked me straight in the eye, "I love you and Alex both...while I can try my best to keep an open mind, I cannot promise you I can take all of this, in one day...I need to process in my brain that my sweet baby girl is now into kissing girls... falling for girls... and it is so not easy to do that,"

I fell silent after that. Mom left my room shaking her head, holding back the tears I saw forming in the corners of her eyes. I know my mom's a tolerable woman, but I don't know how far I can push my luck...

"I really have a feeling we're going to be state champions this year, Lena. See you later at practice, bye..."

I heard Barbara say to Lena, who's fussing in her locker with books. I leaned at the other locker and stared a moment at her.

"Yes? Can I help you with something?" Lena said.

"Maggie skipped class again, Kara's nursing an injury, and you're grumpy...so much, you start to look like your mother,"

"Daughters are supposed to look like their mothers... but I don't, so zip it... What's your deal Winslow Jr.?"

I hate it when they call me that, it's mouthful and it sounds like that castle in England, but when you add Junior to it, it starts to sound like the miniature version of that castle. But they all kept calling me that anyway. So annoying.

"What's your deal, Luthor?" I retorted, "you're not you in Ms. Grant's class back there..."

"What do you mean?"

"Oh you know what I mean!"

She just kept quiet, slammed her locker door in my ear and walked off. I stepped beside her matching her pace, trying to get to the bottom of Lena's antics.

"Winn,"

"Lena,"

"I wanna be alone right now,"

"I wanna know what's going on,"

"Winn," she is starting to sound pissed off.

"Lena,"

She halted in her tracks and faced me. Okay, I think I might have pushed my luck here a little further than I intended to 'cause by the looks Lena's giving me now, she's about to breathe fire like Daenerys' dragon and I'm the targeted white walker, not that I ever looked like one...

"Just go find something else to do, or go find Maggie and bother her instead... I'm not really up for our usual banter," she said a little frustrated and went back to walking.

"Why?" I still keep pushing. I want to know what's bothering my friend and if I can help.

"Just go please..."

"Nope...friends don't let friends mope alone,"

She looked at me again, dejectedly this time.

"Fine...you wanna know? Kara's mom caught us in her room kissing...and she was angry,"

Oh boy... That kinda sounds trouble. If the very sweet and kind Mrs. Danvers had an angry reaction, who knows how the obstinate and infamous Mrs. Luthor would react....
