His eyes hold sorrow, and I nearly feel like I'm sinking in a hole.
"You should get to bed." He stalls my questions, and I don't debate with him, even though I'm certain I won't be getting any sleep.
"Yeah, you too." I sigh, and put the vacuum up.
I turn my feet back toward the living room and Nash is still where I left him in the previous position.
To my surprise he doesn't move, instead he gazes at me.
"What?" I question, feeling slightly uncomfortable.
"Nothing. You just seem...happy." He smiles weakly and my heart wrenches.
"I am." I smile softly, and look at him.
"Seeing anyone new?" It was a random question, and the thought of Kade comes to mind.
I have no reason to talk to Nash about my personal life, and definitely no time to answer his questions, when he doesn't answer.
"Well, honestly it's not really any of your business." I say rather bitterly, and Nash almost appears guilty for asking me.
"I'm tired." I add with an exhausted sigh.
"Me too." He replies.
"Goodnight." I head over to the couch and grab a blanket draped over the arm of the furniture.
"Sweetdreams." he disappears upstairs and I fix my spot on the couch.
I toss and turn frequently and annoyingly begin frustrating myself with negative thoughts.
His couch still smells of bitter alcohol, as if someone spilled a cup of it and didn't clean it well. His blanket and pillow smell more like him, how I remember him months ago.
I close my eyes and force myself to sleep, but I eventually grow tired of my weary attempt, and begin counting the seconds that go by.
I want nothing more than to go home to my mattress, and leave the
forgein platform I'm laying on now.
My mind wanders off in multiple places, and I become even more doubtful that I'll be asleep at all.
-----
Jess' POV
I sigh, and groan annoyed.
Gabby isn't answering her phone, like the norm, and it's barely 40 minutes before our first lecture.
I continue pressing the telephone button, only to hear, "The number you are trying to reach is currently unavailable....."
I scream in annoyance at her unwillingness to cooperate by accepting my call.
"Gabriella Winston, goodness gracious. I'll pity you later, next time I see you I'm going to teach you how to answer your cell phone if you don't accept the next call!" I'm desperately trying not to throw my phone so far that it hits her on the face.
I press the telephone button once more and about two rings, I hear Gabby's raspy groggy voice.
"Hello...?"
----
Gabby's POV
I jolt awake, hearing my phone blare and vibrate in my pocket.
"Hello?" I ask accepting the call quickly and putting the phone up to my ear.
"GABRIELLA WINSTON GET YOUR BUTT UP AND GET READY! I AM WAITING IN THE DRIVEWAY AND YOUR REAR END IS ASLEEP?!" I wince, immediately moving my phone away from my ear.
"DO YOU HAVE A CLUE WHAT TIME IT IS?! I SWEAR I'VE CALLED YOU SO MANY TIMES! GET UP, YOU HAVE NO...."
Sometimes, I seriously consider my mom was reincarnated into Jess' body.
I move my phone in my pocket, allowing Jess to have her moment while I quickly rush to get out of the house and grab my belongings and shoes briskfully.
I hurry and head out the door, and see Jess in her car, about as mad as she gets.
I shut the front door quickly and run to her passenger door.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry, I'm sorry." I throw my stuff in front of me and quickly out on my seatbelt.
"Jess, I won't be late for college I promise." She mocks me, and begins speeding out of Nash's driveway.
"I know, I messed up." We approach a red light and Jess continues her lecture, and I can't help but struggle to keep my eyelids open.
"I've never never known someone to sleep so much in my entire life." Suddenly I jump and widen my eyes quickly to the loud noise of snapping fingers in front of me.
"Are you even lis—what are you wearing?" She looks at me wide eyed.
"Hmm?" I say blinking vigorously, and looking down and suddenly want to find something to hit myself on the face a million times, not just because it's likely to wake me up, but I can't help but feels completely dumb.
I forgot my clothes in Nash's bathroom, and instead of wearing my clothes, I'm still wearing his t-shirt and basketball shorts.
"Oh my god did you—"
"NO JESS! Absolutely not." Annoyed by her lack of faith in me.
"Well, you're wearing Nash's clothes, and you smell like Nash—."
"No, I have to change or something. I see Kade today, and the only thing I have of his is his hoodie. I'll be quick I promise Jess." I beg her desperately.
"Be glad I love you." She says annoyed.
I smile in victory.
----
I quickly head into class, my hair pulled back in a bun, wearing sweats and a black t-shirt that says 'Messy hair, don't care' and sprayed plently of perfume on me.
It's been five minutes since the bell rang and I quickly head into class, trying to ignore everyone's awkward stares.
"Glad you could join us Ms. Winston." Mr. Atkins looks rather annoyed and I turn to sit beside Kade, at the back like usual.
"Rough morning?" He looks a little concerned at me, and I sigh with a slight nod.
He lightly pecks my cheek, and takes my hand.
I smile at him, and he gives me that heart-dropping grin.
My insides fill with guilt as I think about my night.
What are you doing Gabby?
