Chapter 9

Gabby's POV

"I almost forgot." He laughs a little.

"I'm Kade." He grins wide, a smile creeping on my lips.

"Gabby." I introduce myself.

"Nice to meet you, Gabby." He smiles a bit and something tells me my cheeks are redder than a tomatoe.

We've been walking for at least three minutes now, and the halls hold nothing but the quiet tone of our voices and sound of our feet as we walk.

"You too." I smile a bit before he stops at a pair of closed iron doors.

"Atkins." He looks at the sign next to the door before pushing it.

The intense squeak of the door echoes through the large room that captivated more than eighteen students, before it slammed aggressively loud.

I stood beside Kade—nearly frozen at the embarrassing skeptical we've made of ourselves.

I could hear a few laughs from the crowd as everyone glares at us.

If only I could snapshot this moment...me entering English Lit with a super-hot college guy ten minutes after class starts, all the while frozen still, looking like a deer in headlights—Jess would probably be peeing herself right now.

"Take a seat." A man, maybe in his late 50's with a bit of a belly for his stature, and thin grey hair urges us, in a low, rather irritated voice.

Kade leads me to the very back row of desks, practically against the wall, and the very middle seat as I quickly follow behind Kade, taking a seat next to him.

Within a few moments of being settled in our seats, I can feel Kade's eyes on me, making my face feel all the more heated. I slowly turn my eyes toward him, and he tries to look away casually.

"Saw that." I mumble under my breath and he chuckles for a moment before everyone's attention is brought back to the front of the room.

"This is English Literature. I'm Professor Atkins. I'm going to pass a syllabus around, weitherc you read it or not is your choice. Along with that I'm also handing out a schedule letting you know of upcoming assignments due on the specific dates listed. Most students prefer using the study hall on the first floor. I suggest you use it at your own leisure."

"Hey..." I hear a small whisper and look over at Kade.

"Yeah?" He sinks down in his desk.

"If you ever want to go afterschool sometimes to study I'd be glad to." He offers and I nod a little.

"Okay." I smile with a soft grin.

A girl with short, waved brown hair turns to us with a few papers in her hand. Her bold brows almost look heavy on her face, as well as all the other cosmetics layered on her skin. The look on her face doesn't hide her interest in Kade as she hands the papers to me, and I slide the other two on Kade's desk.
