—Playing Games with the Player 2—
Chapter 7
I finally pry my eyes open, my lashes fluttering a bit before scanning the room.
The beige walls give the room a sense of larger appearance. However the room still seemed normal to have size for a hospital, only two chairs near the bedside, one small sink, a computer connected to the wall (I assume nurses use to gather patient and record patient data), and the curtain which ensures privacy.
I finally look over to him, wondering of his appearance. His face is nearly hidden through his much longer, dark curly hair, as it falls down over majority of his face. Within a few seconds, he moves his hair back with his hand and I watch it continue to fall down his face again. I look down at my right hand and pull down the elastic off my arm just before startling him as I work his hair back into a bun.
He looks a bit different and he softly smiles at my gesture and quietly thanks it.
"Welcome." I barely mumble under my breath.
Both of us peer deeply into each others eyes, and my heart begins pounding harder through the passing of each second. He looks at my hand for a moment, and I notice his eyes examining the ring he gave me. I look down at his left hand, and notice his ring isn't on his finger. I quickly push the thought away, he does as well, proceeding to meet my eyes again.
"You feeling okay?" He looks at me with a little concern and I nod.
He gives me a half smile and my lungs sink as I examine him.
He sighs, and stands up completely.
"I should...probably go." He says calmly with his hands in his pockets and my face doesn't bring a hint of emotion.
"Are you going to disappear again?" I ask him honestly.
He looks to the floor a bit, and I'm instantly irritated by his inability to look at me.
"What's going on?" I ask, being straight-forward.
"I don't want to do this." He puts his hand up to his face.
"What are you talking about? You break up with me, leave and don't even tell me why." He finally looks back at me.
"You should do the things you talked about. The dreams you want to persue...I don't want to stand in your way."
Before I know it, a tear rolls down my cheek and onto my chest.
I close my eyes, finally tired of this.
"Okay." I'm too tired, too exhausted, too broken.
"Goodbye Gabbs." He whispers.
"Goodbye." Tears slip from my closed eyes and I barely whisper.
I hear him leave and sob to myself, my head throbbing and my heart wrenching.
My chest tightens and I take a deep breath.
My attention draws back to the hospital door as it open, Jess and Hayes.
"Hey sleeping beauty." She smiles as well as I. Her blonde hair is tied back in an updo and her outfit contains a pair of gym shorts and a black sleeveless top.
