Marik Strikes Again

~Sera~
I woke up the next morning to find myself remembering I stayed with Yami last night. I smiled and looked up to see Yami still sleeping. He looks so peaceful. I moved some of his blond locks out of his face. I was about to get up when his arms tightened around my waist. He pulled me too him seeing that now my back was to his chest.
"Stay," Yami mumbled sleepily. I giggled.
"I have to take a shower, mister," I told him.
"Five more minutes," he told me as he hid his face in my hair. I smiled and laid there with him. I weaved our fingers together that were around my waist. His thumbs rubbing my hands then. I felt him kiss my neck and shoulder. I turned my head and kissed his cheek. "I love you," he whispered. I smiled.
"I love you too," I whispered back. We shared a kiss, and once I felt his grip loosen I quickly got out of bed and ran to the bathroom.
"Sera!" I heard Yami groan. I laughed.
"Sorry, love, but I need to get ready for the day," I told him through the door. "Besides, shouldn't you let Yugi take over by now?" I asked. I then heard him mutter about wishing he had his own body. I sometimes wish for the same thing, that why we wouldn't have to drag him into the drama of my brother. I took my shower then walked out to see that Yugi had taken over again. "Oh good, it's safe," I joked. Yugi chuckled.
"You tricked him, didn't you?" He asked. I nodded.
"Hey, a girl has to look good as well as smell good," I shrugged. Yugi nodded and went to take a shower himself. I put on the light make-up that I normally do, just mascara, light eye shadow, and light lip gloss. All good. It was then me and Yugi left ready to duel. Mai then met up with us. "Now we're just waiting for Joey," I said.
"Yes, that slacker should've been here ten minutes ago. I've got duels to win," Mai said.
"Here comes Joey now," Yugi said. We then saw Joey running up to us.
"Hey, guys! Long time no see!" Joey said.
"Hey," Mai greeted as she and Joey high fived. "Still in the tournament, Wheeler?"
"You bet. I'm already the proud owner of two locator cards," Joey said.
"Then I guess I'm twice as good," Mai said holding four locator cards up.
"What?! You got four locator cards?!" Joey freaked.
"Awesome job, Mai! I've got three so far," Yugi said holding his up.
"I also have four," I said holding mine up as well.
"Aw man. I got the least. How am I ever gonna make it to the Battle City finals?!" Joey asked.
"Don't worry, Joey. There's still plenty of time. You need a total of six locator cards to get to the finals and I know you can do it," Yugi said reassuringly. I nodded agreeing with Yugi.
"Well, none of us are gonna get to the finals while we're just standing around here," Mai replied.
"Mai's right. Watch out 'cause I'm about to do some serious catching up!" Joey said.
"Good luck and miss me guys," Mai said.
"Good luck to you too," I said.
"Luck is for amateurs. Later, Yug, Ser," Joey said before he and Mai left.
"I know one of Marik's Rare Hunters is after me, I'll be ready for him. See you later, Sera," Yugi said before he started to walk off.
"Wait, Yugi!" I said walking up. He stopped and turned.
"What's up?" He asked.
"I need to tell you something. Mind if I walk with you?" I asked.
"Sure, is everything okay?" He asked as we started walking. I sighed as Yami appeared beside him.
"It's about Seto...he knows about the Egyptian God Cards," I stated. They both stopped and looked at me with shock.
"He does? How?!" Yugi asked me.
"Turns out that Seto has one of the cards," I crossed my arms.
"What?!" Yugi and Yami exclaimed. I nodded.
"Yeah, I saw it in his office. He has Obelisk the Tormentor...and I saw him looking at my Rainbow Dragon a few days ago. The way he looked at it was like he wanted to snatch it and run," I said.
"Seriously?!" Yugi asked as Yami stood shocked. I nodded.
"Luckily I was in the room when I told him to leave. I've been hiding my card in my locket ever since," I said. Yugi just stared in shock. Yami looked at me with worry.
'Sera, you must be careful. If Kaiba is getting a feeling about your card being very important...that might become another threat to us,' Yami told me. I nodded.
"I know, Yami. I really do and I am being careful. It's kind of hard when you live under the same roof though," I stated. Both he and Yugi nodded in understanding. We soon made it to a crossroad. "Both of you be careful alright," I said. Yugi and Yami nodded. Yami then took over. He grabbed my hand as Yugi appeared beside him.
"You be careful as well. The Rare Hunters are after your dragon according to Marik," Yami said. I nodded.
"I know. I'll see you guys later," I said to them. I kissed Yami then went my own way.
~Yami~
Yugi and I watched as Sera left ready to start dueling. I couldn't help but feel worried for her. I just told her I love her last night, if something happens...I don't know what I'll do.
'She'll be okay, Yami. She's a strong duelist,' Yugi told me.
'I know she is, Young One. I just cannot help but worry. With this new evil Ishizu mentioned and now Kaiba...I fear for her,' I thought to him.
'I don't blame you. After all, I know she feels the same way for you. But like I said, she's strong. Yami, she has helped us every step of the way. By the time we see her again, she'll have six locator cards and two new rare cards. We'll then see her in the finals. She practically promised,' Yugi told me. I couldn't help but smile.
'Yes, you are right, Yugi. Thank you. Let's move on,' I told him. He nodded and we got going. I looked over to Sera once more giving a silent prayer. Seraphina, if you're there, please look after Sera. I don't know what I would do without her. I felt the wind blow...thank you, Seraphina.
~Sera~
I already won my last Locator cards as well as Buster Blade and Dark Paladin. I kept moving while getting an uneasy feeling. I felt like I was being watched. I turned and saw nothing.
"Sera, you must be losing it," I told myself. I turned back and started walking again. I felt someone grab my shoulder making me turn. A cloak figure, I jumped away. This man was bald with piercings, black shirt, brown pants, white trainers, and a green bag. I think I saw him at the park. "Man, you just gave me a heart attack," I said placing a hand over my heart. I suddenly saw the Millennium Symbol on his forehead and I gasped. "Marik!" I breathed. Marik chuckled.
"Correct, little Sera. I'm so glad to know that you remember me. Now, how about giving me that Rainbow Dragon?" He asked. I glared.
"How about I kick your ass and be on my marry way while keeping my card?" I asked. He laughed.
"Like you can stop me, Queen. Duel me for it then. I only wish for the Rainbow Dragon, you can keep those pathetic locator cards," he told me. My glare hardened more.
"Fine, but I'll guarantee that you won't have her. I'll also stop you from getting to Yami and Yugi so I accept your challenge. Marik Ishtar, it's time to duel!" I told him. After a little bit into the duel he had defeated Rainbow Dragon in one turn! That's impossible and she was in her Dark form. He even stopped Excalibur Dragon! No, I can't let him have her. I won't! "Deal or no deal, you're not having Lira!" I shouted. I started running happy that I took track and field years ago. As I ran, I placed Rainbow Dragon in my locket behind the picture. After a while of running I knew I lost him. I was panting so hard I couldn't breathe. I feel to my knees while holding my stomach. I blacked out. I woke up to find myself strapped to some kind of chair. I was blindfolded.
"Sera!" I heard...Mokuba? "Are you okay, big sister?!" Mokuba asked.
"I-I think so. What the hell is going on?" I asked. According to my brothers, Tea and Joey have been taken over by Marik. I had also been taken over which is why I am here. Tea as able to be freed from the connection, but Joey was still prisoner. Yami was forced to duel against Joey and they're chained to anchors which will fall into the ocean once the battle is over. They are only allowed to be free when one of them wins the duel. And if anyone intervenes...this crate will drop on me and squish me. "Um...I-I'm gonna h-have a panic attack," I stuttered.
"Just hang on, Sera. We promise we'll find a way to get you down!" Tristen told me. I nod shakily.
"Sera, listen to my voice. You'll be okay. I'll get you out of there, little sister," Seto said softly.
"S-Seto..." I whimpered. I wasn't just scared for myself, I was scared for Joey, Yugi, and Yami as well.
"It'll be okay, Sera. I promise," Seto told me.
"Just hand on, big sister," Mokuba said to me. I was still shaking, but nodded.
"The card I have in my hand is the key to my victory," I heard Joey say. It wasn't just his voice though...it was Marik's. "As I play it, your world will crumble as you sink to your doom!" Marik told him.
"Not if I can set Joey free from your control first, Marik!" Yugi called out.
"The moment I've been waiting for is about to arrive! It's all over, Yugi!" Marik told him.
"No!" Tristen shouted.
"There's got to be a way to put a stop to this duel!" I heard Duke say.
"They'll hurt Sera if we help!" I heard Kendra point out in worry.
"Kendra's right, we can't put her at that risk," Mai agreed.
"What'll we do?" I heard Serenity ask. She should still be in the hospital!
"Big brother, isn't there some way we can stop all of this without Sera getting hurt?" I heard Mokuba ask worried. No, they can't.
"Guys...don't worry about me! I know there isn't much time left, but you've got to stop this duel! Forget about me, just please, save Joey and Yugi! They'll both be in trouble if you don't do something quick! I'll be fine!" I told them.
"I wouldn't listen to her!" I heard a new voice. I didn't recognize this one though. He must be the one that is using the machine to make me sit over the water.
"We can't let Sera get hurt! He'll push the button! Please, big brother, we can't let her get hurt! She's our sister!" Mokuba said.
"Come on, Joey! This is your last chance to break free! This is it, Joey! You have to remember who you are now! For Sera!" Yugi called out.
"It's faint...but I also remember my friends...I remember going to Duelist Kingdom and dueling my hardest to get to the top...my past, it's real..." I heard Joey say. He then screamed. "Get out of my head! I can't! He's my best friend! I won't destroy Yugi! I won't let Sera get hurt!" Joey cried out.
"Fight him, Joey! You can't do it, Joey! I know you can! Be strong!" Yugi told him.
"Gotta...be...strong," I heard Joey say.
"Marik! You hid like a coward, but wherever you are, I know you can hear me! And I've got some news for you! There will be a loser in this duel, but it's not who you're thinking! It's not me and it's not Joey either! It's you, Marik! You will lose this duel! You may have thought you could force Joey to destroyed me by taking over his mind, but it looks like there's something you didn't take into account when you made your plan; the strength of Joey's bond with his friends! Time may be running out, but Joey's back and we're in control of this duel now! Your power over Joey has been removed and I'd say that means you lose!" Yugi said.
"Yug..." I heard Joey struggle to say.
"That timer may run out, but since Joey is free, you can't be considered the winner of this duel! Get it? Since you're not dueling anymore, how can you possibly win this duel?" Yugi asked.
"What does Yugi think he's doing? That fool!" I heard Seto say.
"Yugi, time is running out!" I called over. I could just feel it, time was running out...Seraphina, help me! I felt my Crystal glow a little and my blindfold was gone. Thank you, Seraphina.
"Come on, guys...end this," Mai spoke up.
"What are you going to do now, Marik? Just wait in your little hideaway until you lose this duel? This is your last chance for victory, so come and get me! Joey can't be controlled so it's up to you!" Yugi said.
"I can't..." Joey muttered as he tried not to play a card. Joey screamed and I saw the Millennium Symbol on his forehead.
"No! Joey!" I cried out.
"It's over, Yugi. I activate Meteor of Destruction!" Marik called out. I saw a yellow orb coming out of the sky and I heard Joey yell to Yugi for help.
"Joey! You can fight this!" I shouted as my Millennium Crystal glowed. The Millennium Symbol breaks off his head.
"You did it!" Yugi yells happily.
"Yugi!" Joey called.
"Trap card activate! Mystical Rift Panel will stop Marik's meteor! My trap card absorbed the effects of Marik's Meteor of Destruction card. Now my Mystical Rift Panel can redirect the Meteor's attack wherever I want! I'm not going to put you in danger, Joey!" Yugi said.
"Yugi...huh, why am I wearing ya Millennium Puzzle?" Joey asked.
"Because I gave it to you, Joey. When I was trying to help you remember our friendship," Yugi told him.
"I'm confused," Joey confessed.
"Marik tried to turn you against me, but our friendship ended up being stronger than his powers and giving you my Puzzle helped you to break free. You're my best friend, Joey and no evil magic can take that away and now I have to put an end to this duel, but remember, we defeated Marik together, Joey," Yugi told him.
"Um, guys. This is very touching and I'm glad that Joey's back, but you guys better do something soon or..."
"Or what?" Joey asked me.
"Or you're both in trouble!" I exclaimed. There were only thirty seconds on the timer. I then heard propellers and I looked to my left, there was a Kaiba chopper heading over.
"It's one of Kaiba's choppers! But who's flying that thing?!" Tristen asked.
"No one, it's remote controlled," Mokuba told him.
"Where'd that come from?! I warned you, time to drop this crate!" The Rare Hunter said. Seto grabbed one of his cards and launches it at the hunter, knocking the controller out of his hand. "Big mistake!" He said before running over to get it.
"Not really!" Seto retorted running over, he then knocked the guy away just as the chopper moved the crane.
"The choppers taking out the trap! Sera's safe!" Tristen said. I looked over as the crane falls into the ocean, sending a wave up. There was also an explosion which sent another up. Seto freed me just as the other ran over.
"Are you okay, big sister?!" Mokuba asked as I staggered out of the chair.
"I'm fine, Mokie..." I said before feeling a wave of dizziness. I stumbled forward into my big brother's arms.
"Whoa, be careful, little sister," he told me helping me up.
"Thanks, but I'm fine, don't worry. Come on, let's help Yugi and Joey!" I said to everyone.
"Right!" Tristen agreed as he followed right behind me.
"There's not much time left! If one of us doesn't win, we'll both be pulled under and there's no way I'm going to let that happen, Joey!" Yugi said.
"What are ya saying, Yug?" Joey asked.
"I'm saying that I've decided to save you, Joey. There's no point in both of us going down and if I lose you're safe," Yugi said.
"But I can't let ya do this, Yug!" Joey said.
"It's my decision. So now..."
"No, Yugi!" Joey shouted.
"Take care of my Puzzle. Now it's time, Rift Panel, direct your attack towards me!" Yugi ordered. He was hit.
"YUGI!" All of us yelled out. I watched as Yugi fell to the ground. The timer started which Joey had the time to free himself before going under.
"Joey...free yourself now...you only have thirty seconds left to make it out...before the anchor falls...you have to unlock your chains now...come on, Joey...hurry...before the anchor falls and pulls you under..." Yugi told him.
"Forget it! NO way am I letting my best friend become shark bait! We're in this together, Yug and there's no way I'm letting you take the fall! We're going to make it out of this!" Joey said. Yugi took off his Duel Disk. "Don't give up, Yugi! I'll think of something! Red Eyes Black Dragon, attack! Wipe out my life points, so Yugi's key will be revealed!" Joey ordered. His dragon did as ordered then. "Yugi, you saved my butt more times than I can count, this time, Joey's going to be one doing the rescuing! You taught me the courage of never giving up! Hang in there, Yug!" Joey yelled taking off the Puzzle and his Duel Disk. He then took a hold of his chain before swinging over to the other side. He managed to grab the key as the timer reached zero making the anchor fall.
"That anchor's going to drag both of them down!" Tea shouted as Joey and Yugi were being pulled.
"JOEY!" Tristen shouted as we ran over.
"TRISTEN!" Joey yelled trying to take his hand. Joey was dragged under with Yugi.
"NO!" I screamed. I handed my Crystal to Tea before diving under despite the protests of my brothers and friends. Joey and Yugi are my best friends. When Yami defeated that Rare Hunter, Joey said all three of us were a team and I'm not about to let Marik take my best friends away from me. I've already lost too much so I'm not about to lose them. I'll save them even if that means I die trying. I swam down to find Joey trying to take the chain of Yugi's ankle. I swam down a little more as Yugi floated up, I gave Yugi a push so he could get to the surface faster. I swam down to Joey and tried to help him but...I didn't grab his key! How could I be so stupid?! Joey nudged me and showed me the key he used for Yugi. I tried using it, but it didn't work! I saw Joey about to black out and I tapped his face waking him up. I soon saw Serenity swim down with Joey's key. She got him out and swam up with him. I was about to follow until I couldn't. I looked down, my ankles got caught in the chains. I tried getting them off feeling myself running out of oxygen. I felt my lungs burn and opened my mouth involuntarily. Water filled my mouth. I panicked as I struggled to breathe. The last things I could think about were my brothers...my friends...Yami...guys, I'm so sorry. I blacked out.
~Seto~
I watched as Yugi floated up first and Taylor grabbed him. Next were Wheeler and his sister who came over. I watched for my twin sister to come up, but she didn't.
"Where's Sera?" I asked becoming worried.
"S-she was right behind me!" Wheeler said coughing water up and panting. I saw a blue glow come from Gardner's hands.
"Her Crystal! The light's fading!" Yugi said. Sure enough it was. I may not believe in magic, but I do know that's not a good sign. I took off my Duel Disk and coat before diving into the water. I swam down to see Sera being held down by chains on her ankle. I got a closer look and saw her eyes closed. I tapped her cheek a few times, she didn't wake up! I got her out of the chains and swam up with her under my arm. I reached the surface where Wheeler and Taylor were waiting. They grabbed her bringing up as I climbing up.
"She's not breathing!" Kendra said with tears in her eyes. I moved her out of the way as Devlin grabbed her to hold her. I then started giving my sister CPR, so far nothing! Everyone was watching, Kendra was crying in Devlin's chest as Mokuba was crying beside me.
"Come on, Sera. Don't you dare quit on us!" I whispered to her. She suddenly started coughing up the water and I sat her up to rub her back gently. I then pulled her too me. Her breathing went back to normal, but she was still shaking from the cold water.
"S-Seto..." she said in a raspy voice. I just held her close thanking god that my sister was okay.
"It's okay, Sera. You're safe now," I told her as she clutched onto me. She then looked at Mokuba who flung into her arms.
"Seri, I was so scared...I thought I lost you," Mokuba cried.
"Remember who you're talking to, Mokie. I'm too stubborn," Sera stated making me chuckle a little at the fact. I just held them both to me.
"Are you alright, Sera?" Kendra asked as Mai looked just as worried. Sera gave a tired smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Hey, crazy weirdos, are you okay?" She asked looking at Wheeler and Yugi. They both laughed a little.
"We're okay, Ser," Wheeler answered.
"We're fine. We were just more worried about you," Yugi told her. Gardner walked up and handed the Crystal back to Sera who happily put it back on. I helped Sera stand up and just hugged to my side in case she might collapse.
~Sera~
"Yugi, I'm sorry, man," Joey told Yugi.
"It's okay, it's not your fault," Yugi replied.
"But I almost destroyed out friendship!" Joey argued.
"Yeah, but in the end, not only did you save our friendship, you saved me," Yugi told him.
"I had no choice! Once I realized what I was doing to ya, I had to make it right or do myself in trying, Yugi. Ever since we've been friends, we've always kept an eye out for each other. I wasn't going to let some Rare Hunter creep change that. Even if...even if my brain was turned to mush!" Joey told him.
"It's okay," Yugi said.
"But that Marik made a complete fool out of me! How can I show my face at the finals now?!" Joey asked. Mai walked up and slapped Joey.
"Will you get a grip please? You showed some real courage out there, Joey, so who cares about how you looked? Just like the courage you showed at Duelist Kingdom with you dueled for your sister. Remember that? What she did today, she did because of you. You're her idol, ding dong!" Mai told him.
"What kind of idol gets turned into a zombie and almost destroys his best friend?! Talk about setting a bad example!" Joey said.
"Stop feeling sorry for yourself! Your sister gets her strength from you, that's why she waited 'til taking her bandages off!" Tristen exclaimed.
"Huh?! Serenity! You can see now!" Joey realized. Serenity nodded.
"I was afraid at first, but hearing you save Yugi inspired me. After I took my bandages off and opened my eyes, you showed me what courage was all about, Joey. I just had to dive in," she told him.
"Really?" Joey asked.
"I made it through my operation because of you, you've always been there for me. Today it was my turn to be there for you, big brother," Serenity said before hugging her brother. "Joey, I'd say we're a pretty good team," she said. I smiled and laid my head on Seto's shoulder as I watched this. I felt Seto lay his cheek on my head then. This is just like me and Seto. He and I are a pretty good team as well.
"I'm glad we're all together, guys," Yugi told us.
"You said it, Yug," Joey agreed.
"I couldn't agree more," I said. We all then watched the sun set as it became night fall.
"I'm sure glad that's over," I heard Tea say.
"Ditto," Tristen agreed.
"Hey, Yugi, I believe this is yours," Joey said giving Yugi the Millennium Puzzle. "Thanks for everything, pal."
"Thank your for saving my life, Joey," Yugi told him. Yugi then looked at me. "And Sera, thanks for helping us out down there," Yugi told me.
"Yeah, thanks, Ser," Joey smiled at me. I smiled at them.
"No problem, guys. That's what friends are for. I'm also glad the Millennium Puzzle is back where it belongs, Yugi," I said. Yugi smiled at me and nodded. I then saw Yami appear beside him after he and Yugi talked. Yami looked at me worried.
'Are you really alright?' He asked me.
'Sore throat and I feel a little achy. I'll be fine though. Ha, and you say I worry a lot,' I told him. He chuckled.
'I'm your boyfriend, I am supposed to worry,' he told me. Use my words against me!
'Don't steal my words, my Pharaoh,' I told him. He laughed a little.
'I make no promises, my Queen,' he smirked before disappearing.
"Hey, anyone hungry?" Tristen asked.
"Yeah, I'm starving!" Joey answered.
"Come on, let's go, you two," Seto said to me and Mokuba. We started walking away, Seto still keeping an arm around me to keep me steady.
"Hey, Kaiba!" Yugi called making us stop. "We couldn't have gotten out of that mess without ya!" Yugi told my twin.
"I did what I had to, Yugi, for my sister, got it?" Seto told him.
"Well, thank you," Yugi said.
"I'll see you at the Battle City Finals," Seto said. I waved at everyone.
"See you all later!" I told them.
"Bye, Sera!" They all waved back. We got in the chopper and Seto helped me sit down.
"Get some rest, Sera," Seto told me. I smiled.
"I'm fine, really. You don't need to keep fussing, big brother," I told him.
"You almost died on us, Sera! You have to take it easy!" Mokuba scolded me. I raised an eyebrow.
"And who's the squirt that's gonna make me?" I challenged. He smirked.
"Me!" He sat in my lap then. "Now you can't get up," he said. I smirked.
"We'll see about that," I said. I started tickling him making him laugh as Seto smiled at us, clearly amused. I stopped tickling my little brother and held him. "I love you, my brothers," I told them as Mokuba rested his head on my shoulder.
"Love you too, sis," they replied.
"Are you sure you're not the twins?" I asked making them both chuckle. I smiled as I laid my head on Mokuba's head while Seto flew the chopper. I fell asleep happy to have the family I have.
