A man walked along the path that twisted through the town square, tightening the bandages that were wrapped around his head.  Nothing was familiar to him, and nothing had been for days on end. He was unable to remember anything from the past. He was familiar with the path throughout the town, but none of his surroundings. Something in his mind would spark at the sight of his house, which led him home every night.

As he walks, the moonlight brought him to the abandoned graveyard. It felt lifeless to him, as the yard had been unused for months. He stood at the edge of the path, begging his mind to remember what he was supposed to. Was his identity left here to rest? Why does this place call to him the way it does?

The cold breeze rattled his bones, pressing through the holes of his tattered clothes. A rogue strand of bandage lifted, carried in the gentle embrace of Mother Nature. She was telling him to go, as returning at another point in time would have more promise than it did on this night. He listened to Her, turning to follow the path back the way he came.

As his journey crossed through his mind, he felt his brain working to connect the landmarks to a memory. He was unsure of how he had arrived to this town or why he had stayed. That was a thought for another day and another time.

The wind came to a harsh stop, causing the man to halt. He looked up, taking in the sight around him. He could see there was a young woman at the other end of the town, who was hardly visible from his position. He could see her approach the first house, entering without another thought. Something told him that she had never been here before, but he was no longer able to trust his memory.

Did he know this woman? As the door closed, the wind returned, causing the man's eyes to widen with shock. Something felt different.

Why did it feel as though she was calling to him?
