Then Michael and I walked out of the cafeteria. "Stick with me, Vey, maybe my behavior will rub off on you."

"Thanks." He said sarcastically

I decided to get to the point. "What you do to Cody?"

"Nothing." He said

"Same 'nothing' you did to Jack and his gang?"

He grinned. "Maybe."

"Whatever you're doing, you shouldn't do it in public like that." I said seriously

"You should talk. Besides, Cody started it."

"It doesn't matter."

He turned to face me. "It does to me. I'm sick of being picked on and doing nothing about it." He said while opening the door for me

"I know. But if you keep doing it, someone's going to figure it out."

"Maybe. Maybe not. Where do you live?" Michael asked

"It's just through that fence over there and two houses down. So tell me about the other day when Jack was picking on you."

"You have to first tell me what you did to Mr. Poulsen."

I nodded. I really didn't want to go first so I put it off. "Okay, I'll tell you when we get to my house."

When we got to my house I took my key and unlocked the door. "No one's home."

Michael seemed interested in my family's picture.

"Where's your family?" He asked

"My parents are at work. My brothers are in college. I usually only see them on the weekends."

"Where do your parents work?"

"My mom works at a travel agency that does educational tours for high school students. My father's a police officer." I went into the kitchen. "Want some juice or something?" I asked

"No thanks."

"Go ahead and sit down."

He sat on the kitchen bar area.

"How about some lemonade?"

"Sure." He said

I poured us each a glass then sat next to him.

"Can I ask you something?" I asked

"Sure."

"Why do you blink like that?"

He flushed. "I have Tourette's syndrome."

"Tourette's syndrome? You mean, like those people who shout out swear words for no reason?"

"That's Tourette's, but I don't do that. I do other things."

"Like blinking?"
