Tears stained my cheeks
and the Advil calmed down my pounding headache.
My stomach was empty
and my chest was crushed.
It was nearing nighttime now,
and I haven't left my bed since making it back home.
Deciding to put my misery to the side for just a moment,
I sat up in bed
before turning on my phone.
The sounds of new messages pinged from my device,
and sighing,
I opened them up.

I threw my phone across the room with so much force,
it left a slight dent in the wall.
Anger
and confusion
and pain
were swirling inside my head,
and I didn't know what to do anymore.
Of course she didn't remember.
A knot formed in my throat.
Closing my eyes for a second,
I got up from my bed,
grabbed my jacket
and walked down the stairs and out my front door.
I thought I was drained of all my tears today,
but I proved myself wrong once again.
