Chapter 2

His piercing green eyes settled on me as he closed the door. I looked away quickly not wanting to stare like the rest of the class. He walked over to our teacher and handing her a slip of paper while talking to her at a volume at which was inaudible to me. I snuck another glance at him to see his shaggy blonde hair that lied the right way to show off his face beautifully. His cheekbones seemed to be more defined than anyone else's I had seen walking the halls of this school. He looked very muscular and wore dark jeans with a skater t-shirt and a worn-looking leather jacket over it. Very plain yet his looks seemed out of this world. I only realized that I was holding my breath when Sam spoke.

"Who's that kid?" he chided obviously not happy with the astounding looks of this mysterious boy.

"I don't know," I said exhaling.

Was he that breath-taking that I actually didn't breathe when I saw him? Questions flooded my head. Who was he? Was he new or simply someone I hadn't seen before in the halls? Why was he here?

"Okay class this is Taylor, he is new to our school, just moved here from California, so everyone be very welcoming," our teacher said to the whole class, then quieter to Taylor, "You can sit over here with these two."

She was pointing to us. Of course she was pointing to us. Our table was the only table that had open seats. Taylor smiled as he slid over to our table and took the seat right next to me.

"Hey, I'm Taylor," he grinned. His smile was ear to ear and had a certain charm that you couldn't help but smile back.

"Sam," Sam said skeptically, but to be nice smiled as he said it.

I didn't say anything because I was still marveling over his smile that made me want to reach up and trace those perfectly upturned lips.

After a long pause, he said, "And you are?"

"K-k-aya," I stuttered feeling the blood rushing to my face as I smiled. I must have looked like an idiot sitting there gawking at him. "You can call me Kay for short."

"Nice to meet you," he said his eyes holding mine in an unbreakable gaze.

I stared for another minute before our teacher came over handing us some chemicals and some beakers quickly breaking our staring contest. I looked over to Sam who raised his left eyebrow. I immediately knew what he was thinking. I had a boyfriend, one who loved me. I needed to remind myself that so I wouldn't get carried away with fantasies about some new boy.

I avoided looking into Taylor's eyes for the rest of class incase I got caught up in his beauty again. I couldn't shake the image in my head of his green eyes that resembled mine. They were like emeralds glittering in the sun. They sparkled yes in a certain way that stunned you, and you got lost in them. I laughed at myself, was I really obsessing over this kid? It was so silly. But not silly enough that I had to tell Nick about it.

Nick.

I felt guilty for spending so much time thinking about Taylor. Nick was the one I loved. I think. NO. There was no 'I think' in that. I had gone over that in my mind over and over again instead of going back to thinking of Taylor.

"So, Kay, we're supposed to add that in here?" Taylor asked pointing to the beaker full of blue chemicals in my hand.

"I think so," I said handing it to him. "You'd better do this. I don't need all of us to get chemical burns."

He chuckled as he mixed the two solutions together. It fizzed up and then died. Taylor was already writing something down on the worksheet our teacher had given us.
