so most of the characters in heathers would be about 45 today. a lot of parents of teenagers are in their 40s right now.
it makes sense that after all the shit that went down in heathers, a lot of people might move away. I sound their parents would want to stay in a place where their kids were exposed to people killing others and trying to blow up the school. the most affected or paranoid might even change their names.

heather might have wanted to get a job helping others, maybe helping victims of attempted murder or suicide. so maybe a job in medicine, such as a nurse or she might have wanted to go into law, since as far as i know, veronica got off fine despite being partly responsible for four deaths.

evan's mom said that the only people who enjoy high school are cheerleaders and football players, and that "they all end up miserable anyway." heather knew two football players who allegedly killed themselves, so as far as she was aware, they were clearly miserable, and she herself was a cheerleader who attempted suicide. she was always overly concerned for evan's mental health and encouraged him a lot to try to get better, and she was so upset and convinced that she had failed him when she realised that evan tried to kill himself.
she also says that evan was the only good thing to ever happen to her, suggesting she didn't have very happy teenage years, which would be understandable for heather macnamara, who lost her close friend and two guys she occasionally went on dates with to suicide and had one of her only remaining friends, heather duke, turn the whole school on her. however, throughout that she had veronica, who stopped her from committing suicide, which could be why she wants evan to have at least one close friend so desperately.
