Extended Summary:

Dakota Kane was one of the privileged kids on the Ark. Her Father, being a member of the council and her mother, an inspiring mechanic. Dakota had spent her days growing up trying to live up to her father's expectations of training to be a guard, which is what he had wanted for her, but it wasn't exactly what she had wanted for herself. She didn't want to grow up like the monster that her father had portrayed himself to be. The same man who pressed the button that ended her mother's life.

After that day she was never the same again. She blamed herself for it and completely shut herself off from all the people who cared about her. Except two individuals who kept her from completely going under, who lifted her up out of the darkness to just have that bit of light shine through her soul to keep her going. But her soul had only darkened, and it was the day where she would continue her life in the comfort of a steel cold cell until her eighteenth birthday.

When the day came that she would be floated into the abyss of outer space, her dreams of living on the ground became a reality when she had learned that the Council was sending 100 delinquents down to the forgotten Earth. A planet that had been floating below them; forgotten. Nothing could have prepared her for the chaos and fury that followed the beauty of the endless evergreens and how the light flickered through the branches she had only imagined in the books.
