☾ 𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖕𝖙𝖊𝖗 𝖘𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖞

"This is so cute!" Yeri squealed as she picked up a panda pendant from the glass display to get a closer look.

Dahyun nudged her shoulder. "Yah, that thing's fragile," she whispered to Yeri. "Don't you dare to drop it or you'll have to pay for broken black and white pieces of glass."

Pouting, Yeri set the pendant back exactly on where she took it from.

"Let's go somewhere else less dangerous then, Dahyunnie!" Yeri chirruped, skipping out of the shop. Dahyun sighed and shook her head. Being friends with a hyperactive kid is not easy.

When they were both out of the shop, it wasn't long before Yeri spotted something interesting again in the window display of a bakery. She ran to the window to take a closer look and soon disappeared into the bakery. Dahyun looked at her and a smile unknowingly crept up her lips. 

However, it's not easy to tell the truth sometimes. The reason she wanted to hangout with Yeri on this fine Sunday was actually to find the chance to reveal her true identity to Yeri. It would do both of them no good if she continues hiding it. Yeri has the right to know, no matter how shocked she would be.

 "Dahyun! Come in here!" Yeri yelled, her head could be seen poking out of the glass door. Her head looked really tiny compared to the enormous glass door. Dahyun laughed and ran towards her.

"What's in there, Yeri?" Dahyun asked as she pushed open the glass door. She was greeted by a blast of cold air, and she took a deep breath, taking in the delicious smell of freshly baked pastries. 

"Look at all these cute little animal cupcakes Hyunnie!" Yeri squealed, holding one in her hands and staring at it as if it was gold. 

Dahyun sighed. "I'll get one for you," Dahyun said with a smile on her face as she got out her purse.

"I'll pay for it."

Dahyun and Yeri immediately turned to look at the person - one that Dahyun knew so well.

"Jungkook?" Dahyun gasped, and nearly choked. "What are you doing here?"

Jungkook gave her a smile and shrugged. "I was just walking and I saw you guys here so..." He took out his wallet and paid for the cupcake. "Thought I would join you guys."

The cashier packed the cupcake into a nice pink box and tied it up with a large yellow ribbon - like a typical present box - and handed it to Jungkook while thanking him politely. 

Once they were out of the bakery, Jungkook turned to Yeri.

"Here, this is for you," he said with a bright smile on his face, one Dahyun has rarely seen, as he held the box out to Yeri, who looked really happy. As Yeri reached out for the box and touched it, both of them stared at each other for some time until Dahyun coughed, and both of them seemed to be snapped back from reality.

Dahyun looked at Jungkook, her heart beating fast. 

Dahyun, feeling curious, decided to ask a simple question that she longed to know the answer to. "Who is that girl that you like?"

Jungkook took a deep breath, then looked up and stared at her. Dahyun blinked.

He then laughed. "I'm not going to tell you, because you'll be telling everyone then."

She gasped softly, to herself. The person that Jungkook liked...could it be...?

"So your name's Yeri?" Jungkook's voice broke her train of thoughts. Both Jungkook and Yeri have already started walking, leaving Dahyun behind.

But how could Jungkook know about Yeri when they're not even in the same school?

Social media posts? 

Or had Jungkook been stalking her? 

Dahyun shook her head as she simply did not want to think of what's literally happening in front of her. 

Jungkook likes Yeri.

Dahyun's heart stopped when the sentence flashed past her mind.

Right in front of her, there was Jungkook and Yeri, both walking closely next to each other, laughing and smiling like a real couple. Dahyun had never seen Jungkook so happy before. She clenched her fists.

This was too much.

She could not bring herself to hate Yeri, let alone Jungkook. Even though she could feel the jealousy boiling inside her, she shook her head, no, she could not hurt any of them. She just had to deal with it.

"Dahyun! Why are you standing so far away?" Yeri's high-pitched voice could be heard.

Dahyun looked at both of them.

"I was just thinking of something," she said and ran towards them. "Shall we stick to our plan and go for a movie?" She asked, plastering a fake smile onto her face.

"So...did you have lots of fun today, Yeri?" Dahyun asked, as Yeri walked out of Dahyun's bathroom, wiping her hair dry with a towel.

Yeri had a big smile on her face.

"Of course I did, Hyunnie!" Yeri said, smiling happily. 

Suddenly, Yeri's phone beeped and a notification flashed on her screen.

Kookie: Wanna hang out tmr? I've got so much to ask you.

Dahyun managed to get a glimpse of that message before Yeri grabbed her phone from the bedside table and acted like it wasn't someone Dahyun knew.

"Uh..it's kind of late now, Dahyun, maybe I should go home." Yeri hastily took all her stuff and then bid a quick goodbye before leaving her bedroom. 

Once Dahyun heard Yeri walking out of her house, she flopped down on her bed, both her mind and heart racing. 

Kookie? Hang out tomorrow? So much to ask?

Dahyun got up to her dressing table and removed her contact lenses and her mask. She took a good look at her reflection. Her bright green eyes stared back at her and her fangs seemed to be growing longer and longer each day.

If she wants Jungkook to be happy, why don't she just let Yeri and Jungkook be the happiest couple on Earth? After all, Jungkook's afraid of vampires, and Yeri's a human, a really pretty, cute and kind human. 

Tears began to trickle down her chin. Out of all the people in world, why must Jungkook like her best friend? Why must it be someone whom Dahyun adored so much? No matter how much she wanted to break them apart, she couldn't bring herself to hate her best friend, and her childhood best friend.
