ZARIAH'S P.O.V.

I laid against my pillow, staring at the wall in front of me.

"I'm a disgrace. I deserve to die." I mumbled to myself, over and over.

I knew I didn't deserve to die but I figured that if I said it over and over, I might be able to believe myself.

"...Mommy?"

I looked towards the door to see Samira's small frame.

I erased the bad thoughts from my head and put a fake smile on my face.

"Yes princess?" I asked.

"When is daddy coming back?" She asked.

She didn't know about the argument.

All I told her was that mommy and daddy needed a break and daddy left but he was coming back soon.

"I'm not sure sweetheart." I said, and she walked over to me.

I pulled her into my lap and she laid on my chest.

"Can I call him?" She asked.

I couldn't say no.

I sighed.

"Sure princess, you can call him."

I picked up my phone and gave it to her.

She unlocked my phone with her fingerprint and immediately went to FaceTime.

She clicked on August's name and soon enough, it started ringing.

I was immediately sent to the "Call Back?" screen. I sighed and texted August.

To: August 💙

Samira wants to talk to you.

Soon after, he called back and she pressed the green button.

His face appeared on the screen and a big smile formed on her lips.

"Daddy!"

"Hey mama." He said, smiling back at her.

"I miss you. Where have you been?" She asked.

"I miss you too. And I've been places, but don't worry, I'll be home soon." He said.

"Really? Are you coming back tonight?"

"Uhh...I'm not sure princess. I'll see what I can do."

"Okay! I'll see you tonight." She said, completely ignoring what he said. "Do you wanna talk to mommy?"

He shook his head.

"No. Not right now." He said.

"Awww, because mommy's been crying since yesterday and maybe you could cheer her up?"

"Uhmm....when I get home, I'll talk to mommy." He said, even though I knew he was lying.

"Oh...okay. Well I love you and I miss you daddy!" She said.

"I love you too sugapie." He said. "Gimme kiss."

She put her mouth on the camera and made a kissy noise.

He did the same.
