"Well that's my job and I don't care if you like it or not. Do what I said."
"No. I'm not doing it Stefanie." The way she would say my name made me crazy for it was so rude and ugly.
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me. I said I'm not doing it. Do it yourself!" It was then she dropped the folders to the ground and everything went spilling out. But before I could say anything I heard heels walk behind me in a fury and Callie's face grew startled.
"I know I'm not seeing my most important case files all over the ground! Tell me this was an accident!" Cap said startling the both of us as Callie's face turned to horror.
"Um...
"Um is not a proper responce when you speak to me or your mother! Neither is that nasty attitude you keep giving her. You listen to me Callie and you listen good. We don't tolerate that crap here. It's not grade school this is real life and I run a tight ship! No screw ups unless you want to end up like those girls in that cell over there keep it up. I told your mother the same thing and I'm telling you the same thing now! So you pick up my files and get your ass in order. I don't have time for this in my department and these files you purposely dropped better be in the exact order I had it in! That means each paper inside better be how I had it because it took me two hours to sort through them! I suggest you get to it unless you want to see me angry?"
"No." Callie responded sheepishly as her eyes glanced to me almost begging for help.
"That's what I thought. Now get busy. You have an hour!"
"An hour but....
"I'm sorry did I ask you something?"
"No ma'am."
"Good now get busy!" She yelled again as I started to bend down to help my daughter when Cap grabbed my arm.
"Don't you dare Stefanie. She dropped them on purpose she can pick them up." she barked as I stood back up watching Callie get the papers back together and I could see myself they were all out of order. This would take her way more then an hour to get it all back together as she now stood up trying to balance the big pile.
"And here add this to the pile as well. An hour Foster!"
Nodding her head I watched her walk back over to the filing room as the mother in me wanted to help her.
"Don't let her fool you. She doesn't need help. Let her do it Stef."
"I know mama."
Watching her walk off I let out sigh as I felt a headache come on and I took a seat at my desk.
"Your kids a trip." Mike soon said walking over to me.
"Yeah who are you telling. What did she do now?"
"Nothing. She just has a mouth. She asked me if I was her father." he joked taking a sip of his drink.
"What?"
"Yeah. Because of the last name."
"Lord. Well what did you tell her."
"Gee Stef what do you think." He laughed shaking his head. "Relax I told her it's a coincidence which it is. Your my sister if anything."
Shaking my head I knew I had alot more to explain to Callie as I took a sip of my drink. But as I looked up I saw Lena coming back in and as I stood up I saw Mariana who made eye contact with me and ran over.
"Aww hi baby!" I said happily as I bent down and hugged her tight. "You missed me?" Pulling away she nodded her head as she held the elephant in her hand.
"Aww I missed you too sugar." She made the biggest smile on her face as I softly kissed her forehead and she kissed my cheek. "I see you still have your little friend huh baby?" Gently I stroked her long black hair as Lena walked over smiling at the both of us.
"She did miss you. I hope it's ok I brought her. I mentioned I saw you today and she busted into tears."
"Aww it's fine. Do you both want to stay for lunch. I know it's not glamours here but..
"Sure if it's ok." Lena smiled as I continued to smile at Mariana.
"I'm done." I heard Callie say as she walked out the filing room. But as she walked closer to us her face turned white for some reason almost as if she had seen a ghost. "Mariana?"
Upon hearing this Mariana turned around to face Callie as she pulled slowly away from me. Looking back and forth between the two of them Lena and I were confused more then ever.
"Callie! Callie! Callie!" It was then Mariana finally spoke as she ran over to my daughter who smiled wider then ever and we watched the two hug tighter then ever and I saw tears fall from Callie's eyes. It was then Lena and I looked at each other and we were now aware of who the other little girl was that April wanted to adopt. It was Mariana. What in the hell were the odds?
