The Basics of How to Write a Book!! (For complete Noobs!)

A Good Cover is Needed!

Why might you ask? Because books will often be judged by their cover, it's the way people can tell the difference between a pro and a noob.

Which one do you want to seem like?

=> A good cover must relate to the story you're telling and the genre it is set in. Talking about romance? Include flowers or a couple or even hearts! Horror? Include a dark room or a ghost or even a gory scene! It needs to make sense.

=> A good cover must be interesting and appealing to look at. This means you have to choose it carefully, it has to have meaning behind it, can you see a scene of your story set in that place or is any part of that related? Does it give clues to the end? Does it show the main character? This is how it can be kept interesting.

=> A good cover must be eye-catching. The contrast between the colours of the title and the font of the title along with the colours and images in the cover must work well together, it has to make it eye-catching, how do you expect people to notice you?

A good idea would also be to change your cover, improve it in some way, make sure to inform your readers because they may get confused but it can make it more interesting and can catch the eyes of readers who may not have liked your past cover but your new one now seems interesting. Don't do it every other day or even every week, I'd suggest every couple of months, you could also get one of your readers to make a new one for you! It would make you look like a good author who gets involved and also involves their readers with their work.

Some people like to copy other people's covers, even without the author's permission to do so! So a good idea would be to include your name on the cover so people can't steal it and use it if you don't want them to!! You may not have to if you don't care if others use yours but I do strongly suggest it.

How can a good cover get me more votes though you ask?

Well, an eye-catching, interesting and engaging cover can really reel the readers and votes in, more people would want to read your book, isn't that exciting?

Keep my tips in mind and it will be easy to start off, once you get the hang of things, there's plenty more books for more advanced writers that you can read so you can gain more useful tips but I guarantee that my book will be a lot easier to read and follow for those of you who have only just started out.
