Chapter 44

Hayes POV

She has been in a coma for 2 months.

A week without her was terrible. I couldn't stand it. I have been very distant from everyone. I just want Lucy. But she doesn't want me.

It's Sunday and I'm heading to the hospital right now to see Lucy. I have been coming everyday and staying for as long as possible.

I really want to talk to her. I think about her every moment of the day. I don't know what I would do without her.

I get to the hospital and sit next to her. I hold her hand and talk to her.

"I know I messed up. But I love you. I will always love you. Please wake up." It's basically the same thing everyday

Julie's POV

Marcus and I stay at the hospital all day. We sleep here and eat here. We want to be the first thing that she sees when she wakes up.

Hayes comes everyday to see Lucy. Which is really sweet but I know that Lucy didn't like Hayes that much.

It was another long day. I just fished getting ready for bed. I walk over to Lucy and kiss her goodnight.

"Goodnight honey. I love you." I say and kiss her forehead

"Mommy?" I hear a faint whisper

"Lucy? Did you say something?" I ask excitedly

"Yes mommy." She says

"Lucy! Honey! You're finally awake!" I exclaim and hug her

"Can't. Breathe." She says and giggles

"Oh I'm sorry." I say wiping a tear from my eyes

"How long was a sleeping?" She asks

"2 months honey." I say

"Really? That's a long time." She says

"I love you. Let me call a doctor." I say and press the button

"Who are you-" Marcus starts to say then realized Lucy was awake

"Hi daddy." Lucy says with a huge grin on her face

"Oh Lucy!" He says and hugs and kisses her

Lucy's POV

I woke up exhausted. I still feel really sick and I feel like I ran 1,000 miles.

I was apparently asleep for 2 months. It felt good to see my mom and dad again and talk to them. I didn't talk to them much because nurses came and looked at me and checked a bunch of stuff.

"Okay Lucy we are going to run some tests on you." One nurse says

"Why?" I ask

She sighs and says "you may have cancer. We found signs while in your coma but we couldn't do much."

"Ca- cancer?" I whisper

"Yes. I'm so sorry honey. But we will do everything we can." She says

Then tubes are being inserted in my arms and blood is being drawn. I feel like a test subject.

After what felt like years of being sampled I am rolled back into my room.

I'm greeted by two bright blue eyes.

Hayes.

Hayes POV

Lucy is awake. I make my mom rush to the hospital. I need to see Lucy. When I get there her parents tell me that she is getting tested for cancer.
