Driver's Ed

I don't think it's that simple

I wish they had a class
That taught you how to love
Like the way the teach driver's ed
Before you're allowed on the road
You sit in a classroom
That's ten degrees too hot
And stare at a board
With words of law until your brain just rots
I wish they taught a class
To teach me the laws of love
What you should and shouldn't do
What's normal and what's not
Because then, maybe life wouldn't be as hard
You don't have as much to figure out
But maybe, like driver's ed
No one would listen
You'd sit in a stifling classroom
That's ten degrees too hot
You'd stare at a board
With words of love until your brain would rot
And your heart would break from all that gush
That they would shove down your throat
And once they throw you to the lions
There would be no back seat driver
You'd be all on your own
With no one to take you home
Maybe it's a good thing they don't teach a class
About how deal with love
You should try to learn it yourself
Figure out what you like
What is right and what it not
And then you might not be stuck in a classroom
That's ten degrees too hot.
