Thirteenth letter! ㅓ is for Up close because it's closer to how you're reading, left to right, no? It sounds like the sUnbae (선배, which is a superior to you. If you know Japanese, 선배 is like the Korean senpai), NOT like a the o in pOlar bear. NO. It's like when Patrick goes "uhhhh"... Yeah. That's the best way to describe it. Same example: eongdeongi (엉덩이, which means butt). Or the sound Unnie (언니, which is Big Sister (or trust older woman) ONLY to a fellow female. Men don't say 언니, they say noona (누나). If you happen to know some Japanese, 언니 is like a Korean onnechan)
