Short horror stories

The light

  There's a woman who carries her lantern around. No ones ever seen her without it. She walks with a blank stare.
  Many children love messing with the old woman since she was so strange. When the kids were together in a group, they were fearless. However, if they saw her when they were alone then they would try their best to stay back from her.
  The group thought that it would be funny if they would knock the lantern out of her hands and put out the fire just to see her reaction. However, once they did this, the lantern sing out of her hands onto her body, causing her to be engulfed in flames. She screamed and wailed in agony as she was burned alive. Frightened, the kids ran and never told anyone about what happened.
  They next night while one of the boys were sleeping, he saw a small light from outside his window. He froze once he realized it was the woman still carrying the lantern. Her flesh was burned so critically it was obvious that she wasn't suppose to be alive.
  Before the boy had time to react, the moan threw the lantern towards the house, catching it on fire.
