I snapped the elastic in my wrist and flashed a smile. My reflection stared prettily at me. "You look beautiful, Mills," Sadie, my best friend remarked as her hand reached my shoulder.

"My foundation isnt even noticeable, ugh." I groaned. Sadie groaned with me, but hers for a different reason. We have been spending more than an hour in front of the mirror here in my house.

I grabbed a beauty blender and began squeezing a fitting amount of skin colored cream onto it, rubbing it in all over my face.

Sadie rolled her eyes. "Enough." she said firmly, grabbing the beauty blender away from my hand. "Sadie!" I yelped, trying to tackle her.

But Sadie was strong. She irritably tossed it back to the kit and held my shoulders firmly. "Too much make up, Millie. Too much foundation, too much concealer. Enough of that. Noah doesnt deserve your effort." she said, her red hair falling down her shoulders.

"But my gloss--"

"Is alright," she said with a comforting yet sad smile. "It saddens me to a little.." she said softly.

She looked away, strands of ginger locks blocking her eyes.

"What is it?" I asked a tingling worry in my voice.

"Nothing," her voice cracking. "Never mind. Just dress up and let's go to the mall now."

I knew something was up, but Noah said to meet him at 3:00. And there was no time to waste.

I grabbed the white laced dress that Sadie and I have searched all week for. I bobbed my hair and looked in the mirror one last time until Sadie yanked my hand and pulled me into the car.

;

I was squirming in the passenger's seat, excitement flowing through my system.

I could feel Sadie rolling her eyes as she drove, but I cant help it. After months of crushing on Noah, he had finally, finally asked me out on a date.

Well at least, I assumed it was.

He just asked me to go with him to the bookstore and find this book in History, which was the only class we had together.

My phone vibrated at Sadie cautiously and with skill parked, and I took it out of my handbag, my fingers trembling and cold.

From: Noah
Damn. Got a hurried errand to attend to. Might be late for a couple of minutes. I'll be there in fifteen minutes. Sorry!

My heart crushed inside me, and I felt the tears swelling in my eyes, but I kept my mouth shut, for I knew Sadie's reaction.

But I am weak.

My phone dropped and my palms went to my face, trying to hide my tears but my shoulders shook and Sadie gave a sigh, as if expecting it.

I looked at her, with wondering eyes.

"I predicted this," she said while running her fingers through my hair comfortingly. "Noah always does that to you, Mills. He always just turns you around. You're just too in love to see it," Sadie then bent to get my phone and typed into it.

She locked it before I could even see what she replied. She took my bag and shoved my phone in it.

"He said he would be late anyway. He didnt cancel it yet." It sounded so pathetic. An excuse. Trying to convince myself that he would come.

Instead of the usual Sadie who would tell me off, she just exhaled, and nodded.

"Anyway, there's a new boutique that just had it's opening a few days ago. We can check it out while you wait for Noah, if you want.." her voice lingered off.

I gave a nod and wiped my tears. He's coming. I trust him. He will.

;

My fingers ran through a few dresses, blouses, shoes. A few necklaces and bracelets laid out on jewelry cases, as Sadie was in the fitting room trying on a blue skirt.

Suddenly, a boy, probably my age, his curly hair covering features, appeared, his hands slithering a few gold jewelry pieces into the pocket of his tattered denim jacket.

My eyes widened in surprise, jaw dropping, and he brought his finger to his lips, as if gesturing me to keep hushed.

"Hey you there!"

Suddenly, chaos began as security ran around and the boy disappeared. Hangers and dresses were flying everywhere, and my feet seemed to have stuck in the ground.

I froze as my eyes gazed over as the dark haired boy smacked one wooden hanger onto one of the heads of the guards.

He was about to run and leave when his eyes found me, and he tossed his head as if to side his curly hair.

My eyes poured into his, brown and chocolate like.

He gave a devilish smirk, a smile creeping in his eyes.

"On second thought," his voice husky and deep. The freckles on his pale skin complemented his all over features.

"I'll get you too."
