It was dark and cold at the same time. The only light coming from the white screen and the five candles in the middle.
The class sat down in a circle, as the facilitator explained the instructions.
"What we're gonna do is flash a message on the screen. If you wanna give it to someone, take a candle and give it to that person. But we have to follow a golden rule; you cannot say anything." The students nodded.
The first message was "I'm lucky to have a friend like you." El stood up and took a candle, so did a few other students. She gave it to Nancy who was always there for her.
Mike, on the other side of the room, didn't do anything, and seemed unintrested. He did receive a candle from Will, and he gave it to Lucas. Lucas have it to Dustin and he returned it to the middle.
The second message was, "I'm sorry if my jokes got too far." Neither Mike, nor Eleven related to this so they sat down.
Finally, they showed the last message. "You seem like an intresting person. I want to be your friend."
Eleven knew exactly who she wanted to give it to. Mike Wheeler. She hesitated. She saw people taking candles and giving them. Mike stayed seated.
El sighed. She finally stood up and took a candle, and to her surprise, so did Mike. They met in the middle, El stood shyly.
And together, almost as if rehearsed, they offered the candles to each other. El smiled, and took the candle, at the same time offering hers to Mike.
They put it back in the middle and sat down in their spot, smiling like crazy. Because it seemed as if the feeling was mutual.
