Chapter 10: "Friends"

"Kai! Kai, wake up!"

I yawned, still too tired to open my eyes, and shuffled in my bed, pulling the thin sheets over my head.

The cover got removed from over me again.
I growled as the sunlight hit my face.

And that was when I felt a cold liquid pour on my head.

"Ahh!" I rolled over in shock, and the next thing I knew I was on the floor with the blanket over my head.

"Nyaaa!!" I threw the white fabric somewhere and growled.

"Finally! I've been trying to wake you up for 30 minutes now!"

I rubbed my eyes.

"Get ready. I'll be at the workshop. And don't fall asleep again!"

I watched as she got out of my room.

Don't fall asleep.
Easy to say for you. I barely slept last night!

*bang* *bang* *bang*

The hammer's voice kept ringing in my ears.

Nya is not in the workshop, but I don't know where she is.
I guess she said that when I wasn't listening.

I held the sword and plunged it in water for a few seconds, before pulling it out again.

As flawless as always.

I took the sword into the store room.

Um, let's see.

This crate is for helmets, this one is for sheilds, this one is empty, and..

Found it! This one is for swords.

"Kai." A calm familiar voice called from behind.

I turned around to see..

"Princess?"

..right behind me

I was about to kneel down, when she put a hand on my shoulder.

"Please.. don't."

I looked in her beautiful amber orbs.
I felt lost as she was starring back in my eyes.

She slowly took a step closer, still both our gazes locked together.

I found myself wrapping an arm around her, pulling her body closer to mine, as she placed her head gently on my chest.

"How do you do this?" She questionned in a whisper.

I passed my other hand in her red hair, then started playing with some locks of it. "Do what?"

"Make me feel so.. so vulnerable."

The girl put a hand on my chest, pushing her head away from me to look me in the eyes.

"But I did nothing, Princess."

She threw an arm around my neck and whispered in my ears.

"Don't call me that. You know my name."

Our faces were inches closer, and I could feel her breath on my skin.
She closed her eyes when my forehead paused on hers, and I felt one of her hands on my cheek.

I know that I was about to kiss her, but I didn't.

I just.. didn't.
Something just didn't feel right.

I opened my eyes, took my fingers out of her hair, unwrap my arm from around her waist, and backed off.

I turned around and hugged myself.

"Wh-what's wrong?" She asked.

"We.. shouldn't do that." I paused for a moment.

"We don't fit together. You shouldn't be here with me. Your future is probably with another prince or ruler, and not me."

She stayed quiet for a while.

"There's one thing that you don't know, Kai."

I heared her footsteps and know she came closer to me.

"I fell for you."

She stopped, and I could tell she was so close to me.

"And you cannot undo what has already been done."

I hesitated before replying. "But you can get over it."

We stayed in this silent atmosphere for some time.

"Does that mean you don't feel the same?"

"I.. I d-do. That's why I want you to stay away from me."

I really wanna be with her, but that would be wrong.

And what if someone figured out?

"We can still be friends, right?"

"I.. I guess we can."

It all went silent again.

This time, I felt some quick movement behind me.
I moved to the side, dodging whatever was moving behind me, as I turned around, only to see Skylor holding the sword that was about to cut me in two, smiling at me.

"Skylor!" I yelled to my surprise, looking at her, then back at the sword again.

She chuckled at my reaction.

She throw the sword back in the crate next to her and shrugged.

"I'll just.. leave you to do your job.. before someone finds out I'm here."

"O-of course."

I kneeled down, my hands on the ground.
"Be careful, Princess."

I listened as the sound of her footsteps faded, as her voice ringed in my ears.

"I will, blacksmith."

Muwahahaha! I messed up the kiss and ruined the ending!

And as always sorry for the late update.
If I updated late again then it's because of my mom and school.
