CHRISTINE'S AND PHIL'S DEATHS, SWITCHED POV

I watched the programme in the centre of the flat, trying to take up as much space as possible in order to make it feel less empty.

I wasn't sure about Phil's odds, but the thought of him not winning was too terrifying to allow into my mind. All of his opponents were stronger and more willing to kill than this literal angel ever could be.

The cameras switched away from Hermione and Sweeney Todd's bodies and focused on Christine and Phil, both discussing the wonders of the internet. I smiled in spite of myself, able to appreciate all of the comments. Phil mentioned me a few times; wow, I missed him.

They lifted the wood they'd gathered and headed back to their campsite. The bushes to their sides were dense enough to block nearly all light from the sides.

Christine laughed at something Phil said, and suddenly an explosion ended the conversation.

It took me a full minute to understand what had happened.

I turned off the television set. I didn't care who won anymore.

He'd promised me we'd meet again, but he was wrong.
